Swampy442
So Im assuming that a Billet turbo is so named because the compressor wheel is milled and machined from a single piece or billet of ally. Is it therefor reasonable to assume that you could construct your own Billet turbo if you could get the compressor? Obviously assuming a qualified business builds and balances it for you. With the exception of dbb cartridges cores havent changed much for years so Id say its do-able. Any input?
CanisLupus
Doable if you can stay within the tolerances. But i don't know if you could make any improvement with your own wheel. Manufacturers spend much time testing the turbos for optimum flow etc. maybe the self made will last longer but i doubt it would give more Power or better spool. bignum
Would love to build my own but my tools are limited, doubt i could do much with a drill, angle grinder and bloody big hammer:)
Swampy442
Lol I dont mean knock one up in your shed, just get a wheel from Precision or wherever, send it to get rebuilt et voila
CanisLupus
If cartridge(core) and wheel match, no Problem. Hybrid Twins are nothing else. What are you planning?
Swampy442
Not planning anything mate, just asking questions. A new billet turbo is alot of money, I already have a T67dbb so was just wondering if it was possible
CanisLupus
Ah ok If you can get the Parts individually it should be no Problem if you make sure everything fits and the whole Turbo is balanced afterward.
