Batman Live

I've recently heard news about Batman Live. It's a huge budget theatre style performance tour based on an original Batman Story. Apparently, the show will include lots of stunts and 'magic' on stage. It's going to have actors playing all the famous / poplular from the mythology. Sounds really intriguing and think I'll be booking some seats at my local venue - the M.E.N.

Any thoughts?

Ummm...possibly if you're taking kids or something. I guess if Adam West or Burt Ward were appearing, it would be fun.

I went with one of my boys to see Doctor Who Live at Wembley Arena last month. It was reasonably impressive, but given Elliot is nearly 10, and a huge fan, it was great for him.

No actors from the show ie any of the Doctors were in it, except the pre-recorded appearances of Matt Smith and of David Tennant on a big screen.

The kids didn't seem to mind, but even though I knew in advance it was Doctor Who Live (featuring zero Doctors) I think I would have preferred at least one of 'em to show up.

So yeah Batman Live, check it out, but secretly prepare to be diasppointed...a bit.

I'm a big fan of DC Comics, so it's for me. I don't have any kids (i think). I hope it's not like Adam West's style batman. I'd like to see more of the modern take that comes off with the latest batman films. A darker style. It's the supposed budget that makes me really want to go. It's seems like it won't be done by half.

I quess it doesn't hurt to go in with low expectations though, as not only will you not be disappointed, you can also be very pleasantly suprised :)

Because similar things have been tried at the o2. Walking with dinasours - dr who and some other stuff. None of it has ever made a headline of being worthy of being remembered. That said I could be wrong.

I think basing your assumption on other companies past performances is a tad unfair at this stage. It might end up being rubbish, but there's no way to say that right now.

You're right I guess.

Would have been better had it been marvel as more characters and stuff they could have done. With batman they are very limited.

There's a host of characters in the batman stories. If they are going to pick a specific hero, I think batman is a pretty good bet. Which marvel hero would you like to have seen?

I quess apart from Superman, Batman's the biggest comic super hero out there.

Spiderman would have been awesome swinging around the arena by a skilled circus stuntman doing flips from web to web around the arena avoiding the set.

Wolverine vs Hulk would be cool - especially if hulk pretty much demolished the set. Cyclops shooting optical energy beams around would also be awesome. Heck the entire Xmen would be awesome. Sure they could have hot/cold effects with storm and fake snow etc. with Storm.

Probably be expensive though. ;)
