hemmjonny
Hi all, My Dad I and are thinking of building a cheap kit car. I have allways liked the Dutton phaeton S4 and you can pick up a worrking one for about £1000 or so. I was thinking of putting a 2JZGE engine in it would be well good fun if it would fit what do you guys think? Thanks Jonathan Hemmings
Swampy442
Personally, for less weight and similar power Id go VTEC, or rotary Not saying it cant be done, just dont see alot of point

Swampy442
Slap a 1JZ tt engine in, that would be fun!
Nic
The 2JZGE is a heavy lump to fit in such a small car, I'd go for a smaller, lighter engine with similar or less hp that would give you better weight distribution. I also think the engine dimensions would be a issue.

johnny g
They're still a heavy engine, for their size. What about a nice alloy block Toyota V6, like the 2GR-FE?

Guigsy
I've never seen a track car with a rotary that would be interesting. Loud tho.
Swampy442
Oh yeah, if you can do it, 4 rotor ftw
edge
There is a 3s-gte powered dax (i think) on you tube. I know a guy called nigel dean and had a few long chats about different engine in these type of kit cars and he said turbo powered ones are a pain to put the power down due to weight. I have seen 4age powered ones so maybe the a super charged version 1.6 4agze? Or V8.
