Halfords are Useless

Now I do rate halfords tools quite well, however the last couple of times I have been to Halfords for parts it has been a disaster.

They dont do ANY of the parts I want, they have to "Order them in".

I remember when I used to go to Halfords with my Dad.

We used to go in, buy the parts, then go home and fit them... what has changed?

Spark plugs, Dizzy Caps, Rotor Arms and Leads, for various cars, Almera, Pug 206, Supra, Civic - "We can get them in a couple of days" they say - Jesus, the internet is cheaper AND faster. I dont mind paying over the odds if I can get it in my hands right now. But they are completely useless.

Anyone know where I can pick up a Rotor Arm and Dizzy Cap for a Honda Civic 1.4, and have it in my hands on the same day?

I wouldn't have thought they would stock items like that at Halfrauds?

Do you have any local motor shops near you? They normally have them in stock if large enough or can get them within the day depending on how good your local motor shop is.

I just need one tomorrow epic badly, ive booked my car in at Chris Wilsons for a Clutch Replacement - And I dont want to be driven around by the Girlfriend. :D

I wonder if Honda have a stock of them, seems like nobody these days actually HAS anything, its all just dropshipped from warehouses.

CES are quite good you see thier vans around all the time. Call them and see if you can go pick one up. Halfords I like for the odd bit of cleaning stuff and the 3 for 2's and other odd bits but they are a bit bad for parts.... they can not compete on that front as they do not have the storage as they are not just parts dedicated

That's how its works in the UK now. No one holds stock, they work on an immediate delivery or "just in time" process. Even with Audi, I have to phone up and preorder oil and air filters, you would think a large Audi dealer would hold all service parts in house, but they don't. I presume its all to do with insurance values, so shop storage rooms aren't chock full of stuff to lose in a fire.

I'll stick up for Halfords Mr Purity. Why just yesterday, I was in my Astra and experienced a windcreen wiper-blade failure (passenger side)

I thought 'ooh that's flapping around alot. Where could I get something a 6pm to replace this?? Eh?? Where???'

Hmmm...Halfords.

I ventured in.

Unlike Bono, I found what I was looking for.

As I was paying, the 17 year old girl on the till took one look at me and said "Would you like some help fitting them?"

Was it my hair, my height, my funny walk, my signed photo of MattH keyfob? - did I really look like some kind of loser that can't fit his own freaking blades? Eh?

Yeah, just remembered...I'm not so keen on them after all.
