evinX
Well guys i changed my oil, and thought id do a picture thread for you all as i havnt seen one for the na yet. List of things to get 5ltrs of 10w40 Toyota semi synthetic engine oil 1ltr of 10w40 Toyota semi synthetic engine oil Oil filter for the 2jz-ge, i went for a toyota one Sump bolt washer £1.03 from toyota 13mm Ratchet Bucket for old oil http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs972.snc4/76554_1700036337699_1141640031_3523694_1121358_n.jpg Step 1 Turn the car on, and let it warm up Step 2 Jack the driver side front wheel up and remove the wheel, remember the back wheel will lift, so have some stones or bricks to go around and under it http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs923.snc4/73663_1700035857687_1141640031_3523692_8120724_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1161.snc4/150381_1700037497728_1141640031_3523698_5354793_n.jpg Step 3 By the time youve jacked up and taken the wheel of, the oil should have cooled a little enough for you to remove the oil filler cap, do that, take the dip stick out and clean that and stick them aside Step 4 Get your 13mm ratchet and remove the sump bolt, mine was a little tough but i got there, i wouldnt advise using an extention as it wasnt able to put the force onto the bolt that i was applying, once you loosen the bolt, leave it in, and put the 13mm socket on an extension and start to remove the bolt by hand, and pull away whilst putting the bucket under the draining oil, i used this technique becuase i was able to keep my hands clean and not loose the bolt in the bucket. Let the oil drain completly http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1156.snc4/149864_1700037897738_1141640031_3523700_6306785_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs942.snc4/73530_1700037657732_1141640031_3523699_2890926_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs932.snc4/74521_1700036897713_1141640031_3523697_6517064_n.jpg Step 5 Remove the oil filter by hand, it was fiddly, but once i got my grip i turned counter clockwise and it came away with ease. Once thats of and the oil has drained, get the sump bolt, clean it up and fit the new washer, remember to dab some oil on your finger and rub it on both sides of the washer. Refit the sump bolt and washer. Now refit your oil filter with hand tight strength, simple, locate the threads slowly and tighten, thats it for the filter! Oil filter is to the left side of the fuse box in the picture http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs931.snc4/74449_1700038217746_1141640031_3523702_2836822_n.jpg Step 6 Get your wheel back on and lower the supra. Step 7 Now back to the engine bay, Get you oil ready and fill it with 5.2 litres and fit the cap. Let it settle for a few hours and then go back to it, put your clean dipstick in and check the level, mine was alarmingly above the full level and panicked, but after some research i was told that the oil filter needed to take some oil which will lower it. So i turned the car on, let it warm up and then turned of. Take the dipstick out, clean it, and give the engine a few minitues for the oil to settle. Put your dip stick in and the oil will be at the full level! And thats it, it was my first oil change ever and im very satisfied, and hope other first timers will be to:)

evinX
well done you get a gold star, next mod is chrome/polished parts under the bonnet? Gold star, fantastico! , no chrome bits anymore, im happy with it for an everyday car, a turbo charged 3sgte wouldnt go a miss though, thats on my list for later on along with a 5speed mk3 gearbox, trd diff and new suspension. That would be a perfect setup for me.

pedrosixfour
For future reference, the sump plug should ideally be the lowest point on the sump when draining the oil. So jacking the car on the driver's side was a bad idea as the lowest point on the sump was at the opposite end of the pan to the sump plug and as such the old oil could not completely drain out. Also, only a few minutes are needed between adding the new oil to the engine and checking the oil level with the dipstick for the first time. Not hours. AndrewOW
looks like a stick person running away from another stick person with a head and arm missing Maybe the 'bloke' on the right has just nicked them from the 'bloke' on the left. I'm surprised he was able to keep up for so long. We need a flip book animated reconstruction of this.
