Tim_v_M
Just out of interest, a thing I was wondering: What if I, as a Dutchman, buy a car in England with a private plate and drive/import that car to the Netherlands. Is there a way I can sell that private plate, or isn't that possible as a part of the V5 needs to go to the Ministry of transport to declare the car exported? (Correct me if I’m wrong). Or isn't a Private plate on your V5, bus just on some sort of extra paper you have to carry with your V5 ? As, when I get a Dutch plate, the Dutch ministry of transport keeps the V5 and I’ll still have the plates. (At least, that is what happened when I imported my supra. And Yes I like them to decorate my wall with, but I rather sell them and buy something nice for my supra if they are worth anything. Thanks! Tim. Dnk
Get the plate put on retention here before you export it, you'd then be issued with a new reg and V5 and any other paperwork such as mots would be stamped accordingly as far as im aware. Tim_v_M
But than I have to leave the car in England at the seller, ask him not to declare the car exported and than I have to request a normal reg. Wouldn't that take weeks and make me travel to the UK twice?
