Dave
ive noticed quite a few of you guys have removed the sound deadning ,does this have any disadvantages like more engine noise in the car etc . as mine is begining to fall apart at the screen end so i was thinking of taking it out
gannon888
i dont have it on my trd bonnet, i wouldnt say i can hear the engine more, defenitely hear my turbos more and the bov is just silly now, i doubt thats much help as i just noticed youre driving n/a
Ark
I recall some rumours of it acting as a fire blanket in the event of a fire...
mwilkinson
When I got my car it did not have the bonnet fire blanket installed. I found the car quite noisy and ended up buying one of Jamsey. I now love the quiet it brings. I can hear my exhaust and not the turbo spool all the time. The bov is now muffled but audible.

Swampy442
With a big single, doesnt the heat damage the paint with the insulation removed?
ManwithSupra
Its probably best to keep it to be honest, I'm sure Toyota put it there for a reason, its probably for decreasing engine noise or stopping the heat get to the paint. Mine looks pretty tatty as well, but until it falls off i wont replace it, and its not as if its on show all of the time.
jevansio
had mine removed for ages, no damage to paint, no shielding on turbo, it just makes the bonnet steam when it rains, which is quite cool
Mike_Mac
had mine removed for ages, no damage to paint, no shielding on turbo, it just makes the bonnet steam when it rains, which is quite cool Same here - no problems and it does dry the bonnet off quickly
