Iky
[sAD][/sAD]After inspecting the PAS fluid and deciding it was more brown than red, I decided to go about doing a fluid change. I read the guide on here and it seemed simple enough. I got everything ready- rags under the PAS pot to soak up spillages, cut bottle securley taped to pot and filled with new fluid, all pipes where they should be with the end of the return in a container. This is where I messed up, I fired up the engine and saw fluid go down way faster than i expected it to so i did a bunny hop to the front of the car to quickly put more fluid in it. I slipped on an oily patch on the floor and knocked the already 3/4 empty bottle over with my hand when i tried to steady myself. All the fluid went in the engine bay and onto the floor, passenger side wing and my face. By the time i got back up on my feet the pump was running dry and making a scary noise. I quickly ran to the driver side (carefully this time) and switched off the car. After biteing my fingernails nervously for a few minutes whilst looking at it, i thought I should clean up all the mess ive made. I put all the pipes back on and put some more fluid in. i thought id do it the manual way this time by turning the steering side to side. It was very noisy and i could feel grinding noises and vibrations through the steering wheel, I thought this can't be good and decided that in the morning i'd try to bleed it again using the original method. This time i managed to do it without any dramas and used a bigger bottle. BUT now, the steering feels good but there is still a little squeeking noise like a non oiled bearing which changes speed with revs So my question is have i fooked it? Chris Wilson
There's now air in it, run it idle, top up to the top, and leave overnight, Start it tomorrow, and again top up, but to level mark, Slowly turn steering from lock to lock a few times, let idle, top up again if needed. Check again the next day.
Iky
Cheers Chris, I will try that. Although the second time i flushed it, it all seemed to be flowing out of the disconnected return hose without air bubbles.
David P
It took weeks until the squeakyness was completely gone from mine, just keep topping it up.
j_jza80
Could even be a bit of fluid on one of the belts?
