Josh
Tonight I'm going to be calling round a few insurance companies to see who will give me the best deal and to see really what kind of price I'm looking at. I am 21 (be 22 in 3 weeks) with 2 years NCB. I've had 2 crashes, one wasn't my fault, the other was (hit a parked van). The car will be kept in a locked garage at my house and I will do about 8000 miles a year. I've looked to insure under a classic policy but you seem to have to be over 25. I'm wanting quotes on a TT6, preferably BPU. Any ideas on good companies to call for quotes and is it a good idea to call them with details of a car that's up for sale on here with the same specs as I want? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Josh

Brazil
Take in account the petrol bill for a TT6 BPU being your daily driver will be around 500+ pounds a month at the least.

leet45single
Pretty sure mine is the same with LWIB beginning to think i should of done more research, to be honest i just went on a couple of those compare sites (go compare and confused.com) called the top quotes which lead to being palmed off to phone only insurers and sports car specialists. after a day of being on the phone in queues and giving the same info over and over i gave up and stuck with adrian flux. The-Plethora
Just have this in mind when you call insurers... http://ijustwanttofitin.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/a1.jpg Have you tried Sky yet? I found them a lot cheaper than the others especially where modifications are involved but yep it's still not going to be cheap unfortunately

I'm not expecting it to be cheap but anything under £2000 is fine by me. I just want a friggin' Supra!! I'll call a few because comparison websites are quoting me over £3500 at the moment. Thanks for all the help so far guys
Matt H
Take in account the petrol bill for a TT6 BPU being your daily driver will be around 500+ pounds a month at the least. What planet are you driving on? £500 pounds minimum? 8k miles per annum = 666 per month. If you drive a 20mpg, that means you'll need ~33 gallons of fuel a month 33 gallons is ~149 litres. 149 litres at £1.25 is about £186 per month in fuel. Matt H
Make sure you try Adrian Flux too.
JamesC
Just get a UK car if the j-spec quotes are too much. Used to be loads cheaper for me.
Josh
Yeah £500 is waaaay over! I work 8 miles from my house and with my girlfriend so she will drive most of the time in her Ka to save on mileage and fuel Just get a UK car if the j-spec quotes are too much. Used to be loads cheaper for me. But I'd have to wait ages to get a UK car and also to wait for a UK TT6 and spend the extra £5000 or so would outweigh the insurance cost Going to phone Adrian Flux first. Josh
I just called Adrian Flux for a quote on a TT6 BPU that's for sale on here (Getrag's) and the guy said he doesn't think he could quote me and if he could it would be ridiculously high. Hmm, I think Admiral are next on the list Oh yeah, I told him the best quote I had so far was £1300 (which was a lie) and he said that's extremely low for my age so there's no way they could get anywhere near that. Josh
But it is sold by the people we shall not speak of . High Wycombe is all I am saying ..... Yup that's what I thought and also that is pricey. I've set myself a budget of £9000, unless it's really special, in which case I may push it to £10k. If you can discipline yourself to drive at 20mpg all the time then fair play, either way I am going through close to 500 Euros per month of fuel on my, I didn't just pull that number out of my ass. I only use my car to go surfing at my local beach and meet with friends at night. I think he needs to be realistic on his average miles 666 = 21 miles per day driving at 20mpg..! LOL Yeah right what's the point having a BPU Supra..! Edited November 10, 2010 by Brazil (see edit history)

If that car is as advertised then it is quite special and very rare being a low mileage 6 speed UK spec and as it came from Toyota. Someones removed the headlight washers though !
