paddynewman
Hey guys, Used Supra on friday/saturday and sunday..perfectly fine, no issues. Went to drop brothers kid off to school today and though..that warmed up quick, wheres the hot air? Dropped kid off and as we got home, saw the temp gauge rising slowly. Turned engine off and suspected I was out of coolant/water. Coolant tank was in the middle mark, but upon googling was linked to this site and about removing an airlock...upon doing so gave me hot air and a stable temperature. BONUS... Until this evening, where I saw again..it warmed up super quick and had freezing cold air. Ive turned around and got home, plan of action is to investigate in the morning -Pipes for radiator -Radiator cap The oil is still golden/brownish colour, no mayo anywhere... What else should I look at? Last day off work since radiotherapy..so I need to get this done otherwise im commuting on my tiny pit bike

monsween
another quickie, have you recently fitted a FMIC as that can cause overheating and loosing water.

Nic
Lack of hot air from the heater may point to an air lock in the system. No water in the passenger footwell or vapour coming out of the vents? I'd replace rad cap with a new one - make sure you clean any crud off the top of the rad to get a good seal - then make sure no air is in the system. Starting from cold with rad cap off, rev the engine a little using the throttle cable and you should be able to see if the coolant is moving through the rad. Replace cap and get the engine up to temperature and check for any leaks. May also be a stuck thermostat. Also have a read through the service manual HERE for ideas/advice. monsween
The manual rads dont have the gearbox cooler outlets (i think its autobox cooler outlets) so you'd need that as an extra. I dont know if they sell these separate.
Swampy442
The auto rad is different to the manual rad, the bottom section is a trans cooler so if you use a manual item you'll need a remote oil cooler.
