EMPEROR
At least can anyone tell me what's the greyish plug next to the igniter for? And what color wire goes into it?
Andy Blyth
At least can anyone tell me what's the greyish plug next to the igniter for? And what color wire goes into it? That's for the condensor / capacitor. It supresses electrical interference from the ignition system. It connects to +12v ignition and ground so the wires will be black-orange and brown. I'm not sure if the colours are the same on a VVTI.
EMPEROR
Andy Blyth thanks mate, So this is a two wire plug? I have two wires left... one is black-white (which is coils GND) and one brown (GND same as igniter's GND). Could these two be the wires for this plug? I found this: http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd108/wilbo666/final35.jpg But unfortunately I don't have the previous page and I can't see where a), b) and c) are going... Andy Blyth
On your diagram the 12V ignition (rather than gnd) is black-white so they could be the wires you are looking for. This seems to be a difference between the VVTI and non-VVTI. I expect that the condensor will appear on the schematic for the radio, rather than the ignition, based on its location in the parts catalogue. EMPEROR
Thank you mate! You were really helpful! Now I just need to find upper fusebox connector wiring (for the VVTi) and I'm done! Hate how some people cut wiring wherever it pleases them... instead of just unplugging the connectors
Andy Blyth
Now I just need to find upper fusebox connector wiring (for the VVTi) and I'm done! If you have the mating half connector mounted on the fusebox to study, can you match the wires on the engine harness by colour?
EMPEROR
I guess so, but then again depends on the color scheme for non-vvti and vvti engines. Hopefully they are the same though. The problem is that my SZR has plug with 3 pins, and as far as I remember they should be 5 pins. I saw the upper fusebox connector on the first page and found pins 1, 4 and 5. They are the same color. I have two more wires: - black-white wire which is coming from C1 ( http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd108/wilbo666/final314.jpg ) - blue-red coming from C7 (I am not sure if this is not pin 5 on lower fusebox connector) Since traction is integrated in the ECU there are lots of differences on this wiring harness... EMPEROR
Here are the VVTi fusebox connectors guys... I finally beat them to the ground : UPPER FUSEBOX CONNECTOR: No code has to be inserted here. 1 wire with different color on the upper fusebox connector (pin 3) LOWER FUSEBOX CONNECTOR: No code has to be inserted here. 2 wires less and 2 with different color on the lower fusebox connector (pin 4 and pin 8) ECU pins C1, C7, C8, C10, C16 and G13 are taken from here: http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd108/wilbo666/final314.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd108/wilbo666/final315.jpg Edited February 9, 2011 by EMPEROR (see edit history)

Guest SupraDoper
Solid VVTi connector guide. Completed a custom aristo vvti to supra spec engine harness conversion with the above, for a twin turbo swap. Started first turn. Everything works. No traction control as I didn't wire it up. I got all the wiring out of 98 RZ, so might take all connectors pinout if anyone is interested. Still can't figure why some wires are going dead end... Meanwhile I am updating the older posts too. Chris Wilson
Surely pin 9 goes to a switched ignition positive feed?
Ian C
+B is battery feed, i.e. a constant power source even with the ignition off, used for ECU memory keepalaive and radio memory.
EMPEROR
Yes, my mistake, thanks! Chris is correct, it goes to switched ignition positive feed Glad there are ppl who are actually looking at this thread P.S. I knew I checked this... JohnW
I found a Toyota Wire Harness Repair Manual (1991-2005), document no. RM1022E. It has information on electrical connectors and terminals. A PDF version was found on the internet. Another forum posted information that most of the connectors were supplied by Sumitomo from the TS series. The connectors I have researched are either type 1.3 or 2.3 II. Not too many sources for these connectors have been found. The most promising is http://www.amayama.com. With this site a material list is created and submitted for quotation.
