Windows Mobile DST bug too?

I was laughing my c*ck off at the iPhone daylight saving time bug until my WinMo6.5 HTC HD2 started playing up too. Unlike 6.1, WinMo6.5 doesn't have a DST "setting" so I assumed that I had to make the change manually which I did. However later that night the phome chirped up saying it had made the change to GMT. Since then my phone's clock has been randomly moving backwards and forwards by one or two hours all week. It hasn't made me late for work yet but it did make me wake up girlfriend up at 04:45 in the morning thinking it was 06:45! :)

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I can't find any references to a WinMo bug on the web.

It was still doing it today. Nearly fooled me into thinking I had slept in again. I had the brainwave of setting the clock back an hour to see if it would jump forward again, which it did a few hours later so its now reading the correct time. Fingers crossed it doesn't jump forward again.

This is definately either a WinMo bug, a phone issue or a network issue, but its nowhere near as widespread as its iPhone counterpart.

References are starting to appear on XDA Developers and also on the Vodafone support forum. The fix could be as simple as turning off a difficult to find option under network settings or making a simple registry tweak, but there aren't enough cases to form a consensus yet.

Yeah, that's old news.

But the fact remains there is also a bug of some sorts in certain HTC phones running WinMo, but it looks like its not necessarily a WinMo bug. Its probbaly caused by ROM customisation by the user or the network, or third party software.

I've managed to fix mine by locating and unchecking the auto time update option (which was located not on the clock page as in previous versions, but under "network services" - stupid). However, by reading XDA Developers it would appear that the problem has been exacerbated by there being many different customised ROMs for different networks in different countries, and also having the HTC sense GUI switched on adds another layer of complexity because it seems that uses a different time service to update its own built in clock. Furthermore, several users have their own third party clock apps, which all behave differently and finally on top of that there are numerous "cooked" unofficial ROMs floating about that have the correct settings and/or registry tweaks in totally different places. There are people posting on XDA Developers that have tried all the published fixes and yet are still having problems with their clock changing randomly.

Yet another reason that custom ROMs and GUIs are a bad idea IMHO. I reckon an HTC HD2 bought in Germany on T-Mobile ought to work the same as another bought in the UK on Vodafone, just like a Windows PC would given the same scenario.

Its got to the point where even HTC cannot respond to these issues in a timely manner because they have to collect so much information what model phone it is, which ROM version, which network and which country it was bought in before they can even investigate. Dumb.
