NA Open Diff To An Auto LSD

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if you guys can give me some info please on replacing an na open diff with a auto TT diff & with what else would be required?

I know that you'll need a prop shaft but if you're fitting a auto LSD to a manual na then will you require a auto prop or would any prop do? Also once you have the required prop then is that all that is needed to do the swap etc?

Thanks for any help people

you wont need the propshaft either...the diff on the car is a jap spec small casing already...

is the auto tt diff a jap spec smaller casing?

if so then all you need to do is swap the end flange on the diff....think its a 32/33mm nut....its the flange that has the 3 holes for the prop....basically they are spaced out differently between the na and tt...

Keron, the auto TT diff is the same small casing as the NA one (and also the same casing as the v161 6spd diff).

So just to be clear, if you have an NA diff and want to swap to an auto TT diff only the flange on the diff needs to be replaced?

Also, since you are replying to this thread ;) do you find that the NA diff is strong enough for a TT engined car?

yes all the jspec autos are smaller casing....the uk auto would have the larger casing..

yes as the casing on them are the same size..all you have to do is swap over the end flange to allow you to bolt the na prop to the tt diff, so you need the put the na flange on the tt diff....32 or 33mm nut iirc..

the na diff does work really well tbh...done over 30 now with na diffs...(5 spds)
