DodgyRog
When we took off my manifold today the O2 sensors were a Red/Orange colour with very little blackness to them Barney said all the ones he has taken out of the engines he has striped have been blackish, like the one in the manifold we put on the car Just wondered if anyone of the mechanical guys as Brendan wasn't sure, knew if the colour of mine points to a problem or this is normal and the blacker ones are just a lot older or something. Nic
Look fine to me. They are usually removed because they need replacing. When they are duff the ECU defaults to a rich setting, which would cause the sensors to be black and sooty.

DodgyRog
Thanks Nic, so Black is bad then and Red/Orange/White is good:D Edited November 2, 2010 by DodgyRog (see edit history)
DodgyRog
Totaly fine. I know i need new ones but i cannot justify the cost of new ones yet. Lemon juice trick will have to do for now Thanks Martin, we were just unsure, as the ones that were already on the car were so different to the ones in the manifolds Barney had in the Supra parts Shed
