Cracked my xs power manifold!

How is this at all to do with the tech section :shrug:

 

Because it's a discussion about cracking manifolds, a reference to demonstrate in future why, when selecting your single turbo components, cheap manifolds can turn out to be a bad long term idea, and it's covering the issues of bracing, supporting, and allowing for flex when considering a tubular manifold.

 

Funny you needed that explaining to you, maybe you should stick to pissing on people's NA projects instead.

i would weld it , brace it and fit a flexi to the exhaust

 

Thats my plan, one day when i get round to it. maybe next week or the week after. Does anybody need a 4" Diameter x 8" Flexi, if i buy 5 i can get them for £65 each, otherwise they are £75 for a single. Or does anybody know where i can get one cheaper???

 

Also if someone has a good make manifold with 2 holes for a twin scroll housing please let me know.

When I discussed my old XS install with some of the builders here they said at minimum a 6inch flexi should be used, but ideally 8in or more. The 4inch flexi actually has very little flex in it!

 

The XS ones do crack, mine, even supported cracked after about 15k miles. It's got a replacement XS one on it now (only £150 or so), with an additional 'hangning' support and appears to have been fine the last 2 or so years (daily driver).

 

can anyone post a picture showing this additional support?

I cannot say anything over the supra manifold from xs power but i have used them on civic and by the looks and sounds of it you are having the same problems as i had with the civic ones , welding in extra surports helps but at the end of the day you get what you pay for , they are not the best but ok if you do not have all the money in the world . Rich.

As Tricky Ricky says make sure its well supported make additional struts an gussets for it, drill the cracks out prep it and weld it properly, not the best fit manifold but the power your making cant complain lol

I would def look into putting a flexi joint in the down pipe after a heavy track day in my supra the flange on the exhaust side snapped off, partly due to no support on the bottom of the down pipe too
