Help: Looks like i've blown a turbo!

UPDATE :- Had a fiddle with the actuators yesterday to see if they were moving but couldnt tell. This morning driving to work the car now boosts on the first turbo to 0.6bar but then drops to 0 as soon as the 2nd turbo would kick in. As soon as you lift your foot off the accelerator it makes a noise i can only describe as like shooting a Lazer pistol! I'll try and get a video on the way home.

I've seen Ian C's thread about the sequential setup and this sounds like problem number 2 but i'm positive the EGCV is working as i've seen it move during the TTC test.

So, i'll still pressure test it later but i guess it could be the 2nd turbo that might have seized?

That's exactly what was happening with mine, the noise and everything. I got the funny noise when coming off boost on the 1st turbo. No real way to explain it. I even put a video up on youtube and linked it to here. If you have a search you might find it. I had to give the EGCV a yank to get it to pull back into place (You wouldn't notice in TTC as it's open) and after that I had 1st turbo boost.

Tubby no.2 had spat it's turbine out of the exhaust unfortunately.

I've just found your video thread and I actually posted on it too! :) I can't see youtube vids at work but i'll check when i get home and see if it's the same noise.

I'm already over the shock that my turbo(s) are probably knackered. I just want to diagnose the problem now and get it fixed. I don't want to be messing around for weeks trying different things, especially in this weather with no garage! :)

:D

How long were you driving your car with it like this?

I'm still wondering if it's safe to drive as it seems fine driving sensibly and keeping it under 4k revs.

Few months bud. No issues at all. I can't see any reason why there would be a problem as long as you are under 4k. The car would probably overfuel, even with the map sensor, if you went too crazy.

For A-B it will be fine :)
