jonathanc
Stumbled upon this website while looking for work. Anyone have experience with mystery shopping? I've overheard a manager at Asda talking about that before but that's about all I know. The website does make it sound attractive but the £34 one off membership fee kind of puts me off a bit. (although there's a money back guarantee) What do you guys think?
tbourner
There are plenty of agencies that you can register with for free. Have a search on moneysavingexpert forums for people who do it regularly for a bit of extra cash.

creativename
Had loads of mystery shoppers in the dealership where I used to be. They only get paid for something like 1 hour so I made sure I kept him in the dealership for atleast 2 hours. I personally think mystery shoppers should be castrated with 2 bricks

Iv always found them quite easy to spot. It was hard to miss this guy as his recorder nearly fell out of his pocket as he lent into the car

Josh
I registered to do it a couple of months ago and no one got in touch with me so I didn't pursue it.
RedM
I thought you shopped at Asda? Sainsburys for shopping. I go to Asda in Morley for salad and cous cous if I get up late for work and don't have time to make any lunch. Typically about once a week but sometimes more often. It's not a bad place when it isn't filled with the sort of people that normally shop there. If only the Savacentre opened before 8am. garethr
Assume that any such company that asks for a fee is a scam. If they were genuine they would be paid by their clients, not by their employees. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22UK+mystery+shopper+employment+agency%22+scam&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&client=firefox-a&rlz=1R1GGLL_en___GB396
jonathanc
Just registered with GAPBuster and it looks like a very tidy setup. Have to do some "orientation" and exams before getting a job. The spec sheet for McDs alone are 20 pages long lol. I need to wait till tomorrow to see what jobs available. Not sure how much they pay but its a bonus anyway as I frequent most of the companies listed. I guess the hardest part to hide as a MS is the stopwatch! You need to time everything down to the second. But its all fun though...pretend I'm a spy or something Am I also wrong to think that MS gets better treatment? tbourner
I belive there are 2 types of job, those which you have tasks to complete and you aren't allowed to be 'discovered' (if you are, you're supposed to plead ignorance, like "Mystery Shopper? WTF is one of them?"). The other is where you go in and ask to speak to the manager, tell him who you are and what you're doing and then go about it. I've just registered with one agency at the moment and the jobs are more like type 1. I think you get better jobs and perks as you progress through and gain "loyalty points" or something like that. MS is not as easy as I thought lol. Need to be very specific, remember all details, do exactly as told and register multiple agencies in order to secure a job. Still, worth a look since you only book ones you feel like doing

supra_aero
I was a mystery shopper for gapbuster. Pay is v.poor. Only thing I liked was mystery shopping for pizza hut. Free delivery pizza with 2 sides once a month was a nice treat.

supra_aero
Anyone tell me what it is in a nutshell? The mysetery shopper who works for an agency gets paid to "shop" at a restaurant/shop - assess staff uniform (cleaniness), whether they ask a tickbox set of questions they should. Time how long it takes to be approached etc. Assess food if restaurant. Fill out online survey, attach receipt as jpeg. Hit submit. Obviously the shop/restaurant doesn't know who the mystery shopper is. Shopper gets paid 2 weeks later or so for their trouble.
