supra steveo
not to happy about it but carolines supra failed its MOT today for the sidelights not being bright enough , they were some poxy LED ones and fair enough they werent great but when we tried some normal bulbs in they failed to work so i think it needs some new bulb holders , one of the number plate bulbs had gone too but that was an easy fix but these bulb holders on the front dont want to play at all do toyota normally keep these in stock as if i can prove that they work tomorrow they will pass it free of charge

But ask the tester to show you in the testers manual what is defined as bright enough!!
Scott
What about giving the contacts a rub to see if that helps with the standard bulbs? Just to get it through its test.

Scott
Are they facelift? I don't think the pre-facelifts unplug, do they? Best of it is I'm sure I have a couple of these somewhere. I wouldn't for the life of me know where, and clearly they are no use to you being up here, I just found it typical though

Scott
Is it a facelift car? If not, have the original sidelights been removed?
supra steveo
Is it a facelift car? If not, have the original sidelights been removed? the front end has been fully facelifted i.e highlights, indicators
Scott
I'm guessing the sidelight wiring was extended for the facelift indicators then? Are you sure the bulbs are working? If LED's light up in the holder then normal bulbs should work fine.
supra steveo
i know but they arnt must just be a bad conection or something
Scott
i know but they arnt must just be a bad conection or something Or bulbs that don't work. Have you checked the bulbs? You have to look at this logically and not overlook simple steps. If one bulb works, the connection is good.... they should all work. Have you tried swapping the LED's over to see if the light stays dimmer at the same side, this would maybe go part of the way to explaining why a normal bulb wouldn't work, low power for some reason. Very unlikely though.
