Graham S
Just been into my local O2 shop to upgrade from my 3G to a 4. Basically, been looking online and spotted that vodafone did the same tarrif and monthly cost (40 a month with same minutes, texts etc..) but were £20 quid cheaper for the phone itself. So... Whilst in O2 i mentioned this to the sales dude who really didn't know what to say. He said they should all be the same price as its Apple that set the costs of the handsets. Anyway, due to the idiot in the shop I decided to leave it and try calling the online people and see what they could do.. After speaking to the first one, to whom I sald vodafone did it £20 cheaper and would they at least match it, to which he replied 'no, they don't do that sort of thing', I then told them to shove their contract and I wanted the PAC code or whatever it's called to change networks. The operator just said yeah, ok!!! He then transfered me to another person (luckily all english speaking!!) Told her I was leaving and wanted the code, so she said ok!! No questions asked! Whilst waiting for her to sort it out I asked her if there was no such thing as customer loyalty anymore as no one seemed to care that I was leaving after all this time as an O2 customer! She then said she could knock £4 off the phone! What a bloody joke. Rant over, sorry for going on so much, just pee'd off that any sort of customer care seems to be thrown out the window! Whitesupraboy2
To be fair you found it cheaper and you tried to get a discount which they didnt offer. Not really o2's fault just go with the cheaper one. When i left o2 they offered me free broadband for a year and discounted rate but wasnt an iphone. iphone's from what ive noticed are pretty tied down on contracts and prices because of apple, they are like their own government! Swampy442
That plus the fact iphones walk out of the shops so networks dont have to discount to sell
Graham S
called them again and spoke to someone else and in the end they have dropped £4 less than vodafone IF i took it on a 24 month contract rather than 18... 24 months scares me! Josh
I'm on a 24 month contract. I don't mind it because I don't think I'll want anything else in 2 years as the iPhone is perfect for what i want it for £4 is a bit of a cheek though. Fitz
3UK are offering the iPhone on the cheapest tariffs and cheaper handset costs. Only thing is they only do 24 month contracts.

It was a case of yeah, right, fine!

Tried 3 once and they were terrible, even when I returned the handset they still tried charging me every month... Would never go there again! If anything its just alot of hassle chopping and changing, will probably end up staying as they did manage to sort something out in the end and the girl on the phone was actually a good laugh, unlike the rest of the sad no-hopers! Scott
Just ditch O2. I hold them in the same light as Orange, bunch of conning muppets. If it wasn't for the Iphone exclusivity a few years back they would be LONG gone. Vodafone are the best network by a mile for me, a personal user. I think Orange are the best for business use though. aman00123
Strange, when I upgraded with O2 they gave me a free iPhone 3Gs 32gb (when they were new) and knocked £5 a month off my tariff!

No way!! Who's balls did you tickle for that! Dam, now thats made me hate O2 even more now! Would change to vodafone but just don't know about signal strength etc where I work and out and about.. To be fair, I don't think I drop signal anywhere. But the wife is on vodafone and that seems to be as good I suppose.

I have issues in my house, out my front door it's perfect but every contract I have ever had has been the same. The 3G on vodafone is just awesome. Gotta agree with Josh, was with Voda, went to o2, then 3 and am so glad to be back with Vodafone, I'll be here a while

ScottC
Don't go with Orange their 3g/customer service/signal quality are complete cack. If things don't improve over the next couple of months when they merge with T-Mobile i'll be changing to Vodafone.

If things don't improve over the next couple of months when they merge with T-Mobile i'll be changing to Vodafone. I've have to disagree with customer service, although it may just be their business support that is a lot better. The network merger with Tmobile is already under way and you can roam between the two automatically if you have set it up. Voda business however does seem to have issues as well (for us anyway).... Mind you, that said all three of the bigger ones (orange, o2 and voda) have all had their moments of fail.

I find the signal strength and call quality is much better on T-Mobile, however 3g isn't available until the end of November. According to one of the Orange customer service team the reason the 3g on the iphone4 is so slow is because it's a 4g phone and they don't have it yet. Schtuv
I'm actually tempted by the Tesco Mobile iPhone 4 tarriff: Around £300 up front, but then only £20 a month on a 12 month contract. It's piggybacking on the O2 network, though, and I get bad signal around here. Vodafone have annoyed me by not being willing to negotiate on contract terms, though. I really don't think they care about customer loyalty anymore.

I'd say T-Mobile is very good for personal service, you should try them. I'd say Vodafone is best for business but that could be biased because I used them while I was in Deloitte and we had an in house team. Very efficient service, but it could be due to them being in house.
a98pmalcolm
lol orange were great with me... When i said i wanted to leave as i wanted the N900 and they didnt offer that model she was saying "i will give you an iphone and a cheap contract if you want to stay" i had been with orange for like 5 years. But i wanted the N900 and no messing about lol. It was a 3Gs near in a year ago lol.

I know mate but that's what the Orange lady said so it must be true. She got quite cross when I asked are you sure it's a 4G phone? She replied yes. When you register the phone your Orange account automatically gets set up for 4G which is why it doesn't work properly. They then have to manually change it back to 3G:blink: I just gave up in the end.
