Camera mount wobble

I got a camera mount at the weekend. (well technicly its a phone holder thing but it holds anything.) sticks onto the window with a flexable but still quite stiff shaft.

The problem is even small bumps make it wobble arround quite a bit. (a quite smooth brick carpark looks like im driving over a ploughed field. So recording anything makes it look a bit daft :p

Is there any way i can dampen it a bit somehow? Ive been useing my iphone but i think the same thing would be the case with a normal camera.

The other mounts ive seen the camera is mounted firmly to the base near the sucker. Is this the issue? its nice having a bit of flexability with positioning that the flexable shaft gives.

to big:

I had my little Kodak Zx1 HD cam on one about the same length, as you state even though the length is good to position it bounces more than Jordans boobs :)

I now use one close to the suction cup as you also mentioned and now steady as a rock. See it here on the incar cam half way through

Edit : my long one doesnt move but slight up and down due to length give a shite vid
