In this particular instance if arson and fire related deaths are higher during the strike I hope the striking firefighters hang their heads in shame. To me its like heathrow operating flights with striking air traffic controllers. People who will acquiesce to whatever is put to them. Happy to drop their pants and get a good shafting in the mistaken belief that they can talk power round to their way of thinking. In a way my post does have some relation, if any cuts are made it is from a budget perspective. Be it the amount of hours they work, or how much over time they can claim. Are we led to believe that they are not striking for pension, pay, 3 years of pay freeze, job security, closure of fire stations.......instead they are striking for the safety of the London... sounds so similar to the tact that the RMT unions use when doing on tube strikes... Even if the Govt. does decide that it needs to shut down fire stations at the expense of a poorer service - so be it. I am fairly sure they have done their sums and realise that they cannot sustain this level of service any more. Thank labour for their 10 years of raping the country dry - time to pay up. Time to bring some efficiencies into public services and invest in areas that desperately need investment. if that means some others get the chop then unfortunately that is the reality of the situation we are in. no one has the right to a job for life - those days are long gone. And what you did in your previous post to this is assume I would take it in the ass by the man just because I don't believe in striking (which by sherlock holmes like ASSUMPTION you do). Can't see how that works are all cases of forced/willing anal intercourse by government officials caused by people who don't believe in strikes? I just have a feeling that if this strike goes ahead a few more deaths than normal can be attributed to their lack of action (and the lack of suitable training by the army or whatever force takes up the slack caused by the strike).
