adnanshah247
Guys i have been really poorly for the last 8 weeks and my chest infection has run its course but is still not going away. anything that raises my heart level makes me cough (when i do some cardio exercise im about to pass out). every morning i wake up and cough continuously for approximately 3 minutes non stop. not much flem is coming out anymore and its beginning to change from a chesty cough to dry cough. ive cut out all dairy products for the last 6 weeks as well as no fizzy drinks or juices etc. i have totally quit smoking coming up to 9 weeks now and im eating much more healthy and taking multi-vitamins daily. my chest is still clogged. i have been doctors countless times and they are as useful as a headache! now heres my question. i have a rather large turtle tank in my room. were talking 100 litre+ size tank in a room thats not exactly huge. i cant tell you the exact size of my room but id say you can fit in 4 single beds to cover the floor area. i have had this tank in my room for over 5 years and have had no problems but now im having these breathing issues and im wondering is it down to my tank? is there too much moisture or something in the room? have any of you experienced this before? any educated inputs will really help because im seriously struggling now folks! Also as i quit smoking a while back could it alse be a process of cleaning of junk out my lungs? any input would help!
pistonbroke
If it's been there for 5 years with no ill effect, I'm saying no. However, you've been run down with a particularly nasty bout of whatever ailment it was (I saw your other thread). I'm guessing, especially this time of year, chest infections and colds are rife, all three members of my household have a chest infection, all my mates do, all their kids do. I reckon you've kicked whatever it was you had before, but your immune system has taken a beating, so I reckon you've simply contracted something else. adnanshah247
thank dude, i wouldnt say i have caught something else because i havent recovered from the first issue. im still coughing during the day like i was before when i got messed up. its like my lungs feel as if they have shrunk. i struggle to get huge grasps of air in. i have never ever been like this before, i have had flues and chest infections before but never this. its just not going honestly since i have quit smoking my body has lost the plot! your supposed to get better health arent you once you quit?! Abz
You've smoked for quite a way so the body is pretty much now clearing out your lungs. At the moment, I've got quite a bad cough & chest has been slightly painful but it's been like this for 2 weeks. Personally I'd think about Asma (not sure how it's spelt), I'd get the doctors to look into this, now this is no professional advice but I have a gut feeling it could be to do with that. peter richards
could be because you quit the fags , never smoked myself , but a mate packed it in and felt like his chest was always playing him up , he said to me he didnt have this all the time he was smoking . but has to be the body change , the fags was putting so much crap into your system its bound to have an effect of some sort

Asthma ( at Abz) is what I'd suggest too. You could ask your GP to do a peak flow test on you to help decide if it's asthma or not.

I can PM you the ones I used to use in the hospital on my patients, if you want

Yeah, Adnan, this question had also crossed my mind - when was the last time you had a TB Mantoux test done (the injection under the skin on your forearm)? Has it ever come back positive, and/or have you had the vaccine (the big ugly scar-causing immunisation on your shoulder)? I'll send you some breathing stuff. I don't think you can blame the doctors for your illness. Perhaps this is a result of the stopping smoking thing. Who knows. If the x-rays aren't showing up any shadows then I'd say that was a good thing.

sdistc
Simply put.. vote with your feet, mate. I always go to a doctor that is recommended - either by their patients or by personal experience with them (professional communication etc).
