LCD or Plasma TV for consoles?

The panny plasma now in the bedroom was the living room TV for 18months, no screen burn at all, and the new panny plasma had been fine so far too.

What I have noticed from plasma's though is a very sligh 'hum' (like a constant zzzzz) which I didnt get from my LCD. However, it cant be heard over the screaming of F1 engines or Chopper gunners flying over my head on the surround sound on the ps3 :D

I'm on my second plasma now, my first was a second generation 'hot' plasma which had slight screen burn after 10 hour gaming sessions, but the image was quickly wiped by watching somthing else for a minute or so.

My newer one is now 3 years old and has no image retention issues at all. I think it was only a problem on very early plasmas, I'd be very surprised if any newer models suffered with the issue.

constant Screenburn will only occur on modern plasmas if the same image is left on the screen for weeks

Things like airport terminals notice boards things like that, a game paused for 20 minutes isnt going to hurt it

Nice to know

Also, I need to find out whether its the PS3 settings or TV setting but as soon as the tv is powered off, the PS3 turns off too

On a similar note:

I'm thinking about a new TV for the lounge ... the Sony Bravia KDL40EX403 looks nice because it's got wired ethernet for iPlayer, LoveFilm, & stuff (which would be fun until GoogleTV arrives, and until I cave in and buy an AppleTV box). Anyone got any experience of them? The only downside I can see is no analogue audio output, but I could DAC the optical into a cheap amplifier, I'm guessing ...

EDIT: They're around GBP460 at the moment.

I think your right, I'm not going to find cheaper than this for a pany.

As long as you have the funds... do it. Do it now! :innocent:

My Pany 42" has been great over the last 2.5 years, some PS2 gamage, but mostly Sky+ TV :)

Edit: I paid £999 including wall bracket and install to surround sound.

So £379... if you say it quickly, it only feels like £37.90 :D
