Branners
Hayfever seems to have hit me really hard this year so Im wondering who can recommend a tablet or spray that really works. I have tried Clarityn and it just doesnt work for me at all, and I used to use Triludan but they withdrew that from the market as it was giving people heart attacks when mixed with other drugs. So any recommendations? JB
JohnK
I have used benadryl the last few years but this year it seems to be making me very tired. But it does work.

Terminator
Try FLIXONASE ALLERGY, it a pump spray, it takes a couple of days to work , used to script only now over the counter. I take it from Feb to May for tree pollens works a treat.
Bobbeh
What causes it? Theres some type of pollen that is very active this time of year. I hate the summer in this country because of it. I remember in 2001 when I went to MI for a month I had nothing!
ManwithSupra
i use Zirtek its very good and non drowsy :-)
Conrad
Whichever you go for get it from the doctors, they prescribe the exact same stuff such as Clarityn but you'll get a few months supply for your £6.20 subscription fee. Gotta be better than the chemist, Clarityns something like £4 for just seven tablets from the chemist. Another alternative is an injection off the doc, once a year and you're cured. I would have this but an old work mate reckons the injection made her allergic to all fruits. She could only eat cooked fruit if she wanted to avoid her mouth swelling up. Don't know how true this is though.....
China Man
NHS prescription is now 6.50. Branners, try zirtek. same class of drug as clarityn but a lot of my customer finds one better then the other. China

JB I know how you feel, i must have spent a small fortune at Boots, I swear the girl behind the counter think i fancy her as i go in there every other day trying different brands but nothing seems to work. It makes me laugh when people say use a nose spray - well i'm so bunged up i can't sniff it up and it just dribbles straight out again ! If you find a solution, please let me know. Thanks
Bobbeh
I think its a ploy by the drugs companies - dope us all up and skin us for every penny
SupraWoman
I use Claritin, and it does help plus when I feel my nose is giving up on me - then I use nose spray Sudafed - excellent thing!
Guest Girlracer
I used to get Triludan off my doctor. When i couldnt get them i tried various ones. Zirtek seemed to be the best, as others made me tired. A friend told me to try "Tesco's" own 24hr non-drowsy. I did & guess wot, they seem fine. Just hard to get, so i stock up when i can. I also have kept my windows shut whilst driving & just used air-con & i've found that better aswell also got told to wear sun glasses & helps with the situation when i want to rub my eyes out. Tina. Homer
Nothing really seems to help me much since Triludan was taken off the market. I'm currently using Clarityn but it doesn't help much. Some years ago I had the injection shot at the doctors and had ZERO allergies for the entire year, I think they took this off the market soon after due to liver problems with some people. So any recommendations? JB I get it pretty bad, particularly streaming eyes, and I find Cetirizine (Di)Hydrochloride works best. (brand name Zirtek). Buy the generic Cetirizine from Tesco for 79p/packet. They let you have two packets at a time before they decide you're trying to commit suicide. The recommended dose is one 10mg tablet. I find 15mg followed by 5mg an hour later to work pretty well.
carl0s
oh yeah as Girlracer says.. as soon as you spot flowery fields, wind the windows up and hit that Recirc. button
John_M
Don't find any of the over-the-counter stuff works for me. If I start getting it bad (not effected every year) I see the doctor and get a Kennalog injection. Doc doesn't like giving it to me as he says that "it's a sledgehammer to crack a walnut" but, as I drive for a living, he relents (sp?) because it's the only thing that works for me. Keep meaning to go on a course of injections to kill it once and for all but forget until it's too late in the year.

Digsy
A vote for Benadryl here. Works for me. I used to be on anti-histamenes full time but stopped taking them when I grew out of some childhood allergies and asthma. I take them on an as and when basis now, Works for me.
