hayfever tablets and sprays

Branners

Recommended Posts

Hayfever seems to have hit me really hard this year so Im wondering who can recommend a tablet or spray that really works.

I have tried Clarityn and it just doesnt work for me at all, and I used to use Triludan but they withdrew that from the market as it was giving people heart attacks when mixed with other drugs.

So any recommendations?

Whichever you go for get it from the doctors, they prescribe the exact same stuff such as Clarityn but you'll get a few months supply for your £6.20 subscription fee. Gotta be better than the chemist, Clarityns something like £4 for just seven tablets from the chemist.

Another alternative is an injection off the doc, once a year and you're cured. I would have this but an old work mate reckons the injection made her allergic to all fruits. She could only eat cooked fruit if she wanted to avoid her mouth swelling up. Don't know how true this is though.....

I know how you feel, i must have spent a small fortune at Boots, I swear the girl behind the counter think i fancy her as i go in there every other day trying different brands but nothing seems to work. It makes me laugh when people say use a nose spray - well i'm so bunged up i can't sniff it up and it just dribbles straight out again !

If you find a solution, please let me know.

Thanks

I used to get Triludan off my doctor. When i couldnt get them i tried various ones.

Zirtek seemed to be the best, as others made me tired.

A friend told me to try "Tesco's" own 24hr non-drowsy. I did & guess wot, they seem fine. Just hard to get, so i stock up when i can.

I also have kept my windows shut whilst driving & just used air-con & i've found that better aswell :)

also got told to wear sun glasses & helps with the situation when i want to rub my eyes out.

i`ve got a spray.care+ hayfever relief nasel spray which has worked wonders as the hayfever is a trigger for my asthma.it was perscribed by my doctor but it`s cheaper over the counter.

i`m also told now you can have an injection for hayfever now.

anyone going to pod at the weekend with hayfever will be able to do a good test as i always have problems there.

Nothing really seems to help me much since Triludan was taken off the market. I'm currently using Clarityn but it doesn't help much.

Some years ago I had the injection shot at the doctors and had ZERO allergies for the entire year, I think they took this off the market soon after due to liver problems with some people.

I get it pretty bad, particularly streaming eyes, and I find Cetirizine (Di)Hydrochloride works best. (brand name Zirtek). Buy the generic Cetirizine from Tesco for 79p/packet. They let you have two packets at a time before they decide you're trying to commit suicide. The recommended dose is one 10mg tablet. I find 15mg followed by 5mg an hour later to work pretty well.

Don't find any of the over-the-counter stuff works for me. If I start getting it bad (not effected every year) I see the doctor and get a Kennalog injection. Doc doesn't like giving it to me as he says that "it's a sledgehammer to crack a walnut" but, as I drive for a living, he relents (sp?) because it's the only thing that works for me.

Keep meaning to go on a course of injections to kill it once and for all but forget until it's too late in the year.

I think i may have mokkaz'd myself posting about hayfever.

Ive suffered badly today with it, and still am. Eyes are itchy & red & puffy, nose is nearly rubbed off & i've sneezed that much,

feel like i have whiplash
