Retro fit rear parking sensors

I used to have parking sensors on the back of my Supra, and I also fitted a set to my girlfriend's Volvo. They are a peice of cake to fit. Make sure you get the right sized hole cutter (some sets come with their own cutter). Measure LOTS OF TIMES and mark out on masking tape to protect the surrounding area. Its lots easier to run the wires if you take the rear bumper off but not necessary on the Supra because of the big cutout behind the number plate.

Power usually comes from the reversing light via a fuse. Mine had a simple buzzer which I located behind the vent in the trim panel on the left of the boot. My girlfriend's set had a fancy display that required running a cable to the front of the cabin, which was a bit of a pain becaue once you got it there there was no easy way to mount it. We ended up shoving it in the glove box and just using the buzzer.

Be very careful not to mount them too low as they can and do pick up uneven surfaces. I nearly cocked this up on mine but got away with it because I could adjust the angle of the sensors to move them up a bit.

If your car has a tow hook make sure you get one which can recognise it and ignore it.

I would recommend using some big blobs of blu-tak to hod the sensors on temporarily and doing some test parking to find the best sensor locations before you start cutting anything.

I've got a 'Magic Mirror' parking sensor that I found on ebay for something like a tenner and its worked fine for the last 5 years. Fairly easy to fit, as Digsy said, you just need to tape them up in position and do a few test parks before drilling holes.
