pedrosixfour
Happened to me in my Nissan Bluebird once. I didn't know at the time what had happened and of course it was at night and in the pissing rain so I ignored the ridiculous noise and drove the last 60 miles home with the sparkplug hanging down behind the engine still attached to the HT lead! Got home, stuck it in the garage, found the plug and lead, screwed the plug back in, checked the rest, job done!
Matt H
Wow, that's mad. Love the resultant mess it's made of the carbon hood though! they are nomally a b@stard to get out.... H. Really? on what car, H? I've found getting plugs in and out of the supra really easy.
Matt H
Nissan Bluebird My dad had one of those when I was a kid. It was sooo embarrasing to be in, epsecially as someone put a massive dent in the drive side doors and he never got it repaired!
Nodalmighty
I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to tighten plugs in customers cars as they were hand tight. The crush washer is there for a reason.

j_jza80
Is there a recommended torque setiing for plugs? I've alwaysjust done this in the traditional method (tighten it with a ratchet, then another 1/4 turn approx)

I've found getting plugs in and out of the supra really easy. My old NA bent the plug spanner I was using, granted it was a shitty Halfords one. Got 4 out and then the ones nearest to the windscreen bent the spanner. I eventually got a decent plug spanner but they were still really tight. Prior to that I had Fiestas, Cavaliers and they were a doddle. H.
stevie_b
My old Rover Metro spat out a spark plug whilst I was driving along at night. It got very rattley, very lumpy, then the engine just died. No damage though luckily. I hadn't tightened it up enough in the socket.

pedrosixfour
Yes, without a shadow of a doubt! Really?? Only teasing you Matt, you've a fine motor but I liked my Bluebird. Just as much as it liked petrol but disliked starting on damp days!
