dr_jekyll
hello all. i currently have jasons single with me and hes fitting a hks fuel rail with 1000cc injectors. im a bit confused as the injectors only have a little o ring to fit them to the fuel rail and as soon as the pump is switched on it fuel squirts out of the rail at the join to the injectors as i thaught it would. how do you seal the injectord to the rail ? is there a part missing ? Steve
I would say you are missing the collets that sit in the inlet runners, then the injectors sit in them.
dr_jekyll
sorry i should have said , we had collets made. its seald on the inlet but the top of the injector in the rail is leaking under 1 bar of pressure.
Miguel
The HKS injectors have single O-ring and a rubber insulator on the top. http://i1.frsimg.com/images/detailed_images/HKS_1402-RA002_0112430229714a17067bb6d33.jpg Edited: You have the collets. Is it doing it on all of them or just a couple? i had the same problem as this years back and it turned out the rail was slightly bent and a couple of the injectors was not seating properly, new rail sorted my problem. Steve
Is it a genuine HKS rail or one of the ebay copies?
dr_jekyll
its a genuine hks rail but was baught used. its only on 2 and 3 and three i think. ill ask him as i didnt see it happening. bent rail is a possibility.
Miguel
Simple enough to check for trueness, I would also check the condition of the O-rings while you're at it.
J_Supra_07
I think i know what it is the collets have not been pushed all the way in the rail. do the collets go in the rail first then fit the injectors?

Collets sit in the intake runners, not rail.
dude
Swap the leaking injectors and see if the leak moves, if not its the rail.
J_Supra_07
i have custom made collet to fit the intake. it leaks past the oring of the injetors all 6. its something silly i have not done, must be. do the rubber insulator fit all the way in the rail as mine are not in. dude
Are the injectors a tight fit in the rail???
J_Supra_07
the orings did fit the rail yes but i had my douts when fitting it, that just the oring would hold the pressure. dose the rumber insulator bellow the oring on the injector have to be pushed in the rail too? Are the injectors right for the rail, seems abit strange? Im not teaching u to suck eggs but have u used a little engine oil around the o-rings to help them slide in to the rail fully? Sorry to hijack the thread but jaime i just found out i fitted one of your old fueling set-ups to my single build, i hope its ok.......lol:)

J_Supra_07
there bran new genuine hks injectors and a less then 6mouth used rail.
Miguel
The O-rings should be a tight fit and the rubber insulators sit tight against the face of the rail when clamped down.
J_Supra_07
how tight should the orings be ? need oil to push it or just one hand snug fit. mine where just snug thats y i had my douts i clearly was right too.
