Chris Wilson
http://www.bulletcylinderheads.com.au/billetblocks.php Would not like to be the guy to buy the first one, but worth keeping an eye on this? Would be interested in an RB block myself, if they become tried and tested and the weight saving is very significant.
johnny g
Oooh nice. This is perfect for Jevansio to reduce weight even further - and Ryan. You buying the first one, Chris for research??
Attero
Weight saving... but crisp-packet crunching surely?
Chris Wilson
No, as I said! I never buy the first of anything Being billet it could well be nigh on as heavy as a cast iron block, depending on how far they go with machining. I also don't like the fact you can't run a stock water pump. But time may tell, would want to see one run a few long distance races or similar and then be stripped and examined. I will watch this with some interest though, wasn't aware of these until today.

Attero
I haven't slept in days. It would be interesting to see someone implement this into their project.

Chris Wilson
Bloody hell, showing my age, would have sworn I had only just see that. Memory loss, dithering at junctions, calling people by the wrong name, have to re assess my medication. Perhaps I should move on to the shorts again. Digsy
I'd be concerned about the strength of the inter-bore region. The stock 2JZ would be designed for cast ron, but in the alloy version how much wall thickness would you have once the thickness of the iron liner has been taken into account? If its below 4mm I'd be worried. Out of interest, what is the bore spacing on the 2JZ? Also, all the 12V electric water pumps I know of (Pierburg, Davies Craig) have performance that falls way short of a typical belt driven one, and the 2JZ's U-flow cooling system isn't particularly suited to a low-flow water pump because of its relatively high back pressure. I'd be interested to know how much one weighs compared to the cast iron stocker.
dude
Posted about these over a year ago, been e.mailing them but never got a reply, presumably you could use whatever liner you wantesd and 3.4 stroker crank to make it a square engine again. 4 something ltr stroker anyone, im up for buying one if they ever answer an e.mail. Miguel
^ Would be nice, but there wouldn't be sufficient wall thickness to allow for a 94mm piston to regain a square engine layout. That would necessitate total redesign of the block and would require a custom head and crack to be made too. $$$$$$$
