CJ
Josh is going back to the UK in December and we are looking for a cheap, small engined car for him. Ideally we are looking for a 1.00 litre (he is only 19 and the insurance will cripple him otherwise) and around £600 tops. We can arrange to have it looked at now and pay the money immediately so if anyone has anything or knows of anything then please let me know. Safely Insured
Just a heads up.... worth trying a few sample quotes on the compare the market type sites on a few different varients of small engined cars.. you made find huge price differences between them, you do not want to end of with a car that in uninsurable due to cost. My advice.. an old mini.

Graham S
Thanks for the advice guys. I wonder what sort of money a mini like that would cost? No doubt a old mini with an MOT and tax would be rather expensive due to it more than likely being in good condition! My mrs has a friend with a 106, T reg, think 1.0, possibly 1.1. I'm sure she was on about selling it, will get on the phone in a minute and find out if she is and what she wants for it..

jagman
Very cheap cars can end up costing lots ! I would highly reccomend a Seat Arosa 1.4 Turbo diesel ; the car is basically VW so has build and design quality just lower spec than the VW 60-65 mpg very low road tax group 2 insurance no rust issues and reliability issues cheap tyres they retain their resale value well not hooned about like the more fasionable small cars (kids) best bit is the engine a 3 cylinder 1.4 , this gives a large piston size and superb torque coupled with a turbo ,with very light weight the performance is amazing , not so much top speed (you dont really want this for Josh) but gets over 100mph , the accelleration is awesome ,a very few tweeks , remap, intercooler, injectors, and exhaust and they out perform the NA supra , up hills no contest !! (they can match the m3 for torque with money spent , Also not a plod magnet ! They are hard to find though ,but well worth it !!! for a run around or pocket rocket they take some beating ,not a great looker though, but a fun drive , gets bigger engined car owners thinking their car is broken:d

jagman
Pop it into Dudes place for a remap = 190 ft lb torque in a car weighing 960kg NA supra is 209 FT LB as a comparrisson Any loot left and get a intercooler shoehorned in and up fuel and boost ,and take the cat out with a straight pipe welded in .... Result..... sleepless nights for you .....Fun for him!

Attero
Only 19? I bought my Supra when I was 19. I guess he doesn't have experience though. My mate drives a very nice 1 Litre Polo. It's all done up and actually looks very neat (after he took the vinyls off anyway!). He would like more power, but at the end of the day it's a volkswagen (says all really) and it looks pretty neat. This one (but looked a lot neater): http://www.digitalcarwallpapers.com/wallpapers/vw_polo_wallpaper_002_1024.jpg
