gurnam
My car has been really down on power recently and has been feeling very laggy until 5k so I decided to take a look under the bonnet to find out if everything is ok. What I found was lots of oil inside the IC DV take off & inside my R2D2 DV itself. Also some oil in the stock airbox and on the stock recently replaced filter. Also there was a patch of oil around the turbo closest to the front of the car. Also there's more oil inside the IC pipes. Can someone confirm if this is the oil seal on the first turbo that's gone? Am I right in saying that the 1st turbo needs replacing and the FMIC needs a clean along with all the pipes?
Swampy442
Id say the boost leak in the first picture is why its a bit down on power. When did you last remove the pipework to check it? Not sure its the oil seal as the one that goes is in the exhaust. Checked your PCV valve, see if its stuck? Deffo remove the pipework and cooler and flush it out. Do you use much oil? gurnam
It's not a bit down on power but it's none existant until 5k revs. Boost leak in first picture? I can't see any boost leaks on it afaik. I've checked & the FMIC was recently fitted so the pipes are all connected ok. I've checked all the clips. So all that oil on the right side of the first pic is not from the turbo? I checked the oil level and it seemed fine. Will check it again soon. The last time the pipework was removed was a month ago when the FMIC was fitted. The turbo closest to the bulkhead seems dry as it should be. gurnam
Where is the PCV valve located and why do you think it could be related to that being stuck?
Swampy442
The first picture, that spray pattern on the heat shield? Thats a boost leak, the oil in your pipework is getting blown out. Id check the condition of that corrugated rubber pipe, I suspect a hole. The PCV is a valve in the intake cam cover that stops boost pressure entering the vent system, if its stuck youre gonna get alot of oil in the intake system as its blown out of the engine

gurnam
Thanks very much for the advice mate. I'll check the pipe for leaks.
gurnam
Right I know it's not a boost leak, as where the oil pattern is, is because the vent side of my Sard R2D2 DV faces. So when it vents, it's venting the oil that's already in my IC pipework. You get me?
Swampy442
Aaaah riiight, thats not shown in the pic Check the PVC anyway, might help the oil situation
comorin219
i had a similar problem with my GT4,it gradually lost power oil in the pipework & air filter duct smoke coming from the bonnet vents in slow traffic, did a compression test & no 2 piston was about half what it should be, so might be worth doing a compression test if only to rule it out
gurnam
How easy is it to check the PCV? What is the procedure? Think I'll get it compression tested & check the PCV valve then & take it from there. There's no smoke at all on idle or when accelerating. just a bit when the car is switched on. Swampy442
The pipe in the pic I attatched? Remove it, the valve is the thing poking out if the cam cover. Pull it out. Blast loads of GT 80 or WD40 through it, give it a good shake to free it off, refit
gurnam
Sounds easy enough. Thanks
