JamesC
I have an old Dell inspiron 6000 laptop which has an 80gb IDE HD in it. I have just been given a bigger 7200rpm 2.5" disk, but with a sata connection. The dell's use their own type of connectors anyway IDE>Dell 6000 connector and i was wondering if i could get a connector from sata>Dell inspiron 6000 connector? Anyone have any idea if you can get them?
JustGav
The latitudes I have at work, just take a standard SATA drive EDIT: Oh wait, I see what you mean... you want to put a SATA drive in an IDE case. would be a bit tight I think. (I'm blaming lack of sleep... I really need to go to bed)

JamesC
http://www.twenga.co.uk/dir-Computer...ve-adapter-359 Any of them? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8267R-Dell-Laptop-Hard-Drive-IDE-Adapter-Connectors-x-2_W0QQitemZ290473559365QQihZ019QQcategoryZ177QQcmdZViewItem It's like this connector that fits into the laptop, but from a sata disk. I haven't seen any they all seem to be from IDE so i guess you can't get them. I thought it would have been pretty common though. Bed time for Gav
DamanC
Said connector goes between HDD interface and laptop interface? I actually have no idea wtf they are used for but I suspect its so you can mount/fix the disk in place better than traditional pins/sata connectors. Anyway, you should be able to get them from the manufacturer, one may not exist for yours as its an old laptop but you could try one from a newer model.... JamesC
Yeah that's right Daman. I've had a look about but can only find IDE ones.
