jackso11
is the roof panel still on there? opr are you doing the rest first then taking that off to paint it after? I am a bit confused as to why the bit between the boot lid and the roof panel is not being painted as you are doing the sides of that strip and the roof panel. I don't know if thats normal mind you, just asking.
Rob_Mitchell
we are priming the main bits mate today, the roof needs a bit of work so were do that later on, and take the roof off for repairs... but it will all be painted on. jackso11
what repairs does the roof need? it was only painted last year so shouldn't need any real work? If you take the seals off though can you put the new ones back on instead of the old ones please. If not I will change them once i have the car back
Rob_Mitchell
were going to take the roof off and flat it back then prime it, just not today. yeah ok mate no worrys be better with the new seals anyway.
jackso11
Cool, thanks. I have all 4 seal, both sides of the roof and the front and back that are stuck on the body. Not sure what you are taking off with the work but whatever you take off please put the new ones back on. I also have a new set of the popup eyebrows.....if you don't know what they are you will see when you take the roof off the ones on there have rust joints so don't move properly. If they need to come off you can leave them off. In fact, I don't know how the front seal bonds on but if it is over the top of the eyebrow screw on plate best elave that seal for me to do. That sounds confusing but will make sense when you take the roof off The bit that is confusing me though is the bit I highlighted in the picture attached, does that bit not need painting as the rest is all being done? Its the strip of roof that goes between the roof panel and the boot.
Rob_Mitchell
mate were not painting today , were getting repaird areas primed! that area you highlighted is ok no repairs or nothing and its ready for paint. dont worry the car is in safe hands. jackso11
ahhh, got you. I need to learn to stop sticking my nose in.....but I like to know what is going on. Didn't mean that to sound like 'do that bit' by the way, more like 'I wonder why that bit doesn't need doing'. I just ask too many questions. haha I like the brown paper hat look. Maybe I will just cut eye holes and leave it like that.
Rob_Mitchell
lol it dont bother me if you ask questions mate, the part you highlighted was going to be blended but now your having the whole roof done its being fully painted. ill take some pics soon after the primer has been sprayed, might make it a bit clearer.
