Abz
I think it is good you posted it here, you never know someone might just have the answer. Well done to you for ignoring all the folks, some people are just too damn ignorant & are just purely rude. If I noticed something like that on someone's body I would see it & then obviously acknowledge it but not stare or heckle. Brings a smile to know you put up with this with a fight, blogs pretty good too! Now I am not too clued up on skin treatments but I know a few people have bathed in the Red Sea, in Egypt for skin treatments. Also some sort of Hamam bath treatments, although they might not be the cure they would maybe provide some more longer term relief. Maybe I am talking out of my behind here but I am just throwing some suggestions though I am sure you have searched & tried things like this before. Good luck in your search, hopefully the new treatment goes well
SupraP-Z
No problem mate, Ayurveda is really old traditional indian medicine/medical practices, based upon herbal remedies and the whole ability of the body to rejuvenate itself with the help of certain foods/diet/excersise/medicine/whatever else it is they use/do...im still not 100% sure lol. It sounds like a load of crap (did to me when i first heard of it)...but i assure you a hell of a lot of these remedies are tried and tested and proved to work. Im no expert, i have just heard of these things through my family and friends and other people that have had things wrong and certain things have really helped them to overcome their problems. Dont get me wrong its no overnight tablet cure, it will take time to heal something like this. I will definately look further into this for you though mate
SupraP-Z
To Peejay....do you eat meat? i have done a little bit of reading up on the subject and a lot of people say avoid eating meat altogether. Being a veggie myself i do not know how hard it is to give up something like that if you have been eating it your whole life. It also says to avoid smoking and avoid eating very salty/chilli/sour kinds of foods, as these things can aggravate the psoriasis. Will really have to do some digging on this one, info on the net is not majorly useful...getting all sorts of crappy adverts for miracle medicines etc. With regards to Abs's post, i have also heard of people bathing in the red sea and helping to reduce if not get rid of psoriasis...the mixture of the sun and the water must have a soothing/healing effect. PJ
Well, today is the day, it’s here, and not a moment too soon! The past few days/weeks/months have been murder with dry skin and itchiness reaching what feels like an all time low, I don’t remember it ever feeling as bad as this. Ever! To make matters worse, probably down to the disjointed sleep pattern, I’ve been really grouchy and irritable, often being short with my partner and a bit snappy over the most trivial of things. I’m putting this down to the anxious anticipation and the lack of sleep with a helping of stressing about work chucked into the mix too. On top of that I was supposed to be doing the Great South Run again this year with my sister, which is this Sunday. I’ve had to drop out due to the fact that I’ve not done any training in the past four months due to this latest psoriasis flare up making it unbearable. This in turn has had the knock on effect of me piling on the weight and being very unhappy about that. Great! Anyway, only a few hours to go, just got to nip into the office for the morning, do some coding, be awesome, drink some coffee and before you know it it will be time to come home and meet the nurse! For the first bout of injections they come to visit at home and show you what’s what. Game on!

PJ
It’s the start of the 5th day since the injection and it appears that some effects of the drug started showing up yesterday. Some of the more serious thick and scaly plaques of Psoriasis seem to have thinned right out. Bizarrely it seemed to be happening through the day yesterday whilst at work. In the morning it looked pretty much same as always, when I got home it looked a lot ‘smoother’, for want of a better word. At first I thought it was just me getting myself at it, but when I got home the missu commented on how much better it was looking! It seems quite remarkable that it has taken only a matter of days to start clearing up. I shall stick up some more pictures on my blog on Thursday, which is my next injection date, which should make comparisons a little easier, but as it stands I feel both shocked and overjoyed at how quickly it seems to be taking hold. I was honestly not expecting to see anything for at least 3-4 weeks, not 3-4 days!!!! Quite remarkable, roll on Thursday for the next dose. If this continues like this then I can get back to the gym soon, happy days!
edge
Glad you are seeing results so soon and hope its the fix you've been looking for. Whats the treatment called?
tbourner
Glad it seems to be working dude, looking forward to injections is always a sure sign that your illness is quite bad! I used to get a little bit on my joints, now I just get some kind of dry skin on my hands, covering my entire top of my hand, probably a form of eczema but I haven't been to the doc yet (white coat hypertension). It's not as bad as your psoriasis obviously but it's also a PITA as my finger joints and knuckles are always splitting and getting infected, I can't clench my fists or grab hold of anything without being really careful. I'll pluck up the courage to go to the doc one day.
PJ
This is the stuff that I'm using, and the sharps box they so kindly sent me too. It's Adalimumab, which is commonly known as Humira, which is a lot easier to pronounce
sdistc
Pleased for you, mate.. fingers crossed that you get back to normal (well, as normal as you could be anyway ) soon!
PJ
It is time for an update as it's been far too long since my last ramblings on the matter of my psoriasis. As it stands this morning I currently have three or four psoriasis plaques on the whole of my body that are still a bit visible and causing a little bit of discomfort. Each of those patches no larger than a few cm's. These areas will be getting some additional treatment with some trimovate cream to try and get them into line with the rest of my body, which is now pretty much clear! I still have some psoriasis under my finger and toe nails and in my ears still, but those extremities take longer to clear up anyway so I'm not overly concerned about the progress there as I can see it improving too, albeit slower than everywhere else. The reason my updates have all but dried up is to do with the fact that currently there's not much to report on truth be known. No side effects to speak of really, apart from weight gain, which is probably more down to me than the drugs. Blood tests and hospital appointments are down to a minimum, my latest test scores have gone from extreme down to barely noticeable, with the affect on my lifestyle score down to 1 from what was pretty much the maximum score!! For the first time in 15 years I seldom even think about my skin or worry about any of the problems it used to cause me and the rest of my family. I don't worry about what colour my shirt is or if my shoulders are covered in flakes any more and feel confident and happy to go to the barbers for a haircut. I've managed to clean shave for the first time in years as I no longer have to worry about both covering up the psoriasis on my face or aggravating it by shaving. I don't worry about the area around my desk in the office being caked in skin particles which were particularly noticeable in the past due to the blue carpet. I no longer suffer additional humiliation as the cleaners don't now pay special attention to it as they had previously been instructed to. Likewise at home, the house is less dusty than it ever was, the sheets don't have to get changed daily due to my skin splitting and bleeding every night. Hopefully, without the risk of jinxing it, all is golden currently! There are a few other updates on my blog if anyone's interested http://paul-jeffrey.com/
