random but side markers illegal?

Hi peeps,

 

Random one.

 

just got some clear side markers.

 

On the rear they came with amber bulbs - is this illegal? or should i put white ones in for safety (as a few times already people have thought i was indicating)?

I thought side markers were generally amber. If you look down a lorry they have amber side marker all the way along.

Stock light up red, can't see a problem with amber if they're not flashing, not sure how good they'd look though.

On the old Volvo C70 saloon and estates they have amber side markings too, so can't be illegal mate.

I smoked my new clear lenses and forgot to put new red bulbs in and my friendly MOT man advised me it would of failed if he hadn't of put black tape on them

 

... he said they have to be red... but hes old so not sure if hes clued up or not lol

White lights facing front, red lights facing rear and amber lights facing side on. Although this legislation seems to suggest either red or amber are allowed for side markers!

I have amber in mine but they are red as stock. I would go with red bulbs.
