Matt H
Not only do they have the most annoying adverts on TV, but they are sh!t. There is nothing swift about a contactless company. I can't wait for my policy to expire at the end of the year so I can be done with them. About half way through my policy, I had to make a change. I had a problem with the online side of things, so I sent them an email asking for help. The reply email stated that they were really busy so you could phone them on 0871 xxxxx - A premium rate phone number! I replied saying that I thought you were an online service, so why don’t you just answer my email instead of trying to get me to phone you on a premium line? They replied saying I need to phone them on 0871 xxx. What a load of cr&p. The change of my policy related to the fact that my old escort passed away and I needed to change the policy to cover my new diesel escort. So I'd gone from a 1.8 petrol to a 1.8 diesel - something you wouldn't expect a massive hike in cost for. Well, 20% increase it turned out to be, plus they demanded that I settled payments 2 months earlier before the expiry of my policy?! Why? I emailed them and got asked to phone 0871 xxxx I got a reply in the end stating that the change might mean a more powerful engine (1.8 petrol to 1.8 slow as hell diesel). No reasonable explanation why I had to finish paying for the year’s premium 2 months earlier however. Well, you get shafted and have to take it I guess. But now I'm annoyed again. Earlier this week something flew at my windscreen and chipped it. Before I contacted Autoglass for the repair, I thought I better check out what Swift Cover’s Policy is on chip repairs. As you can imagine, it's a load of c"ck. You have to go through Swift Covers authorised repairers by phoning, that’s right 0871 xxxxxx. If you don't, they will pay up to £50 for a repair. Ummm, not the end of the world I guess, but here's the catch. You don't pay excess for a repair and it doesn't cancel out your no claims bonus, but, the tw&ts won't raise your no claims bonus for the next year, which means that I would be another year without a claim, but nothing to show for it when I shop around in Dec... Just 2 months away. Swift Cover: Ok if you never need to do anything other than pay them. I can only imagine how sh!t it would be sort out a real claim or something serious... Rant over. Matt H
Thanks, but it's the point I'm trying to make about this company proposing to have an online based system that saves you time, yet they try and get your to phone premium rate numbers. It's a scandal.
Gaz6002
The diesel Escort probably costs you more because your risk profile has gone up with Swift, because you're changing your policy half-way through to a car with (I assume) lesser value. It's not fair, but that's one of the ways these people work.

If anything maybe higher as the replacement escort was a newer car with less miles - but swings and roundabouts really. I anticipated it would go up, but 20%? They only do it because you're in the keep net.

They offer a service anf when it costs them money they get it back one way or another by fair means or unfair means, they don't care. Ducking and diving with different insurers is the only way to keep costs low and not get penalised for actually claiming what you are entitled to. Loyalty never pays in any business. H. They're heavily loading the TP policies now because they're trying to phase them out.

Always have been as I've never found much difference in prices between the options - that's since I was like 20.

If you ring the 0871 number then at least swear at the staff and get your moneys worth. I reckon an F is worth 20p so I get at least two in per minute.... H.
