Chris_k
Ive had a search but can't really find anything. How hard would it be to put my aerial on a switch so it only goes up when i want it to, as i rarely listen to the radio and i dont like how massive it is Thanks in advance for help. stevie_b
I have a switch that does exactly that. I just fitted a rocker switch from Halfords in-line on the aerial signal wire (blue I think). When you break the connection with the switch, the aerial goes down.
KamaSupra
I have a switch that does exactly that. Me too Was already fitted when I got car, it's just a small switch next to my stereo.

Chris_k
Thanks neo, i hope your joking lol Where is it coming from the ignition or Cd player? Would it be easier to access it from the boot closer to the aerial?
Chris_k
bump bump, want to do this soon. Someone please tell me which wire
stevie_b
This thread, post 23, seems to confirm it's a blue wire you want, although I only remember seeing one candidate wire when I did mine. If you pop the dashboard fascia off, hopefully the situation will become clearer.
Mcgoo
Chris, You'll have to get behind the dash mate. Don't worry its a piece of cake. It's been off many times so will come apart easily. In fact you'll probably find most of the screws are missing so it will be even easier. Follow this guide and you can't go wrong. Your just removing the center part so obviously stop when you can see the screws holding the stereo in and remove them to pull out the stereo. no need to take out your dials etc.; http://www.internetwork.org.uk/kit_inst/dashrem.htm According to the wiring diagram here: http://www.internetwork.org.uk/manual/system/radioamp/radioamp2.htm The wire powering up the aerial on the car's harness is black with a red stripe so have a look for that. I can't remember if there is a simple plug in 'ISO' type harness between the radio and the car harness, but if there is, the wire would normally blue. There will be another blue wire kicking about at the back of the stereo that is the 'remote' for your Sub amp. It is possible that it's spliced into the same wire that feeds the aerial so make sure you fit the switch AFTER the amp remote wire or you will be swithing the sub on and off too. Hope that helps. tayr
Sorry to bump. today I’ve been trying to fit an aerial switch on my supra which has the amp. on the other supra it was a case of cutting the blue and putting a switch between. ive done that on this one but it makes no difference. When I re join the blues the antenna goes up but when I disconnect it, it just stays up. If I unswitch the switch and then switch it on nothing happens Originally I had it wired up to blue and white and it powered the amp on and off which led me to the solid blue wire Edited March 12, 2022 by tayr (see edit history)
