jonathanc
I have always used Jr myself, I now use Spektrum which are the same company but 2.4ghz, so no need for crystals or worry of someone turning on their tx and interfering with yours. If you got a 450 you would only need spektrum dx6i and suitable receiver, something like the new 6 channel 6110e park fly would be more than enough for one of those, I use that one. I only use the bigger receivers like the ar6200 and ar7000 full range with satelite recievers on my bigger helicopters and aeroplanes. Wow...sounds pretty complicated. Isn't there a kit with everything (minus batteries ofc) in?

Aero-M
http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/t-rex_sport_super_combo_dx6i_ar6200_battery-p-8550.html This would be everthing you would need minus the lipo balance charger. Perfectly good as you wouldn't make use of the pro kit over the sport for some time.

It was worth a try:) Lets be honest though no matter how cheap you get a package it never stops there. It looks like you're going to need a charger with the Fast Lads Package and one battery won't be enough then spares etc the list goes on.
