free parts

I know a lot of members are finding it hard in this financial climate to keep up on repairs, which then leads to them selling up.

This is just an idea ,but might help evrybody out eventually.

How many people would be willing to dig around in their sheds and donate standard parts that could be passed on to other members as and when required.I know this might seem a cheek as every penny counts, but you could need that part one day and not be in the situation to get it at the time.Maybe something could be set up where one of the mods could be contacted first and check through a list of parts.

What do you guys think.

Saying this I saw so many parts I have lying about last week, which I was about to donate free. But it made me think twice at some attitude of some members towards me. So I decided I will only donate to my favouite members when they post the need of parts. Believe me I have very good condition parts from windows to window sills etc

I do this quite regularly, but as Jazz said I only do it to what I consider worthy causes/members with history of contributing to the club in some way. I've done it in the past to unknown members, only to see the items put up for sale shortly afterwards. I've got various bits I'm willing to donate here, but only when I'm sure they're going to a good cause :)

What we need is for a mod to organise this so members can can send what they have to donate so a list can be compiled ,otherwise there will be no way of keeping track of things. The idea is so when somebody needs a part they can pm a mod and be directed to the person who has the part they need. That way it should stop anybody just grabbing parts to put on ebay ect .If nobody knows whats available until they ask for a certain part.

And some sort of way inflicting pain if they try to sell the bits on at a later date

I like the idea.

I have lots of parts to give away and have already given away loads of stuff, it doesnt bother me too much if someone then sells it on say if it doesnt fit, but to hoard the free parts and then sell them would be shite and not in keeping with 'club spirit'

IMO if you get something for free on here, if you want rid of it, you give members first refusal and free.

If there caught selling parts they got for free I reckon a ban would be in order, or at least stop them from advertising in the for sale section...:)

If you got the part for free and didn't or couldn't use it, it should be re-advertised for free for another member who can put it to use...
