Suprash
Well I started the car the other day, she fired up fine, was running for a minute or so then just cut out and died I immediately tried to start her again and she was just cranking over and over. The fuel was a bit low so I got a jerry can and threw that in to make sure it wasnt fuel, still the same So next I started to go through everything, took off dizzy and all is clean inside, pulled one of the plugs and that looked ok, bit wet, but thats only from cranking it over, checked for a spark on the plug and check. Cracked off one of the banjo's on the fuel line and fuel was there. Checked all the plugs on the ECU side, and everything looked ok. Checked all the plugs for ignition on the engine side and everything looks ok. Basically its baffling the hell out of me !!! It started and ran for a minute and now it just wont go, its not even trying to with that cough, cough that slowly gets faster as each cycle burns, its like there is no spark or fuel but both look ok ? Am I missing something obvious ? Im literally out of ideas to check next ???

Suprash
Nah, its been left over a day before I tried again, and cranked it with my fuel pump fuse pulled........ What ever it is, is what killed it whilst it was running......?
Swampy442
Fuel pump ECU? Cam/crank sensor?
Suprash
There is no fuel pump ECU, crank sensor ? Dunno, maybe ? Does that throw a code, guess I could check to see if any codes are stored but I cant remember how to do that bridge two ports thing, then switch your ignition on/off however many times to get the dash lights to flash any codes ?? Anyone remember ?
JODY T
there should be an oem fuel pump ecu behind the passenger rear boot plastics that you have removed.. its behind where the light would be on a standard car.. do you run a piggy back? ide remove it, and try and start it, sounds a bit like barny brendans car a while back.. he changed everything and couldnt find anything.. turned out that the piggy back wasnt sending the signal to create the spark.. although if i remember correctly he said it had a spark but not strong enough.. He removed the ecu and it fired straight away Just a thought Edited October 12, 2010 by JODY T (see edit history)
JustGav
Don't think you use the bridge port diag thing, on your standalone.... You checked the wires (you knew I was going to say that ) FPC has been well and truely removed
JODY T
ah standalone.. Scrap my idea then lol.. could be an ecu fault though?
Suprash
To be honest, that was my trail of thought the other night, ECU fault, because I have literally tried everything else, well, when I mean tried, I mean by non-mechanic skills, I bet Graham could come round like last time and 5 minutes - BANG !!!! Hey-presto Where is that Douche anyway.........
scotty71
A guy posted on here a few months back with the same issue. Running fine and just cut out. Turned out to be in the end a loose wire on an ECU in the passenger footwell.
