Help! Police Producer for MOT certificate

I find it hard to believe that an offence against Customs and Excise would affect your public liability insurance for a car. MOT I can swallow, they could claim the car was un-roadworthy, but not having no tax. Can anyone cite a case of insurance withdrawal due to just having no road fund licence in force?

I was only assuming this as you have to provide proof of insurance to purchase road tax. In order to have a car "on the road", as far as I know, it has to be roadworthy.

In saying that though, they will sell you roadtax regardless of how short a period your insurance is for.

No MoT = small fine and zero points. (I got done for it on my FireBlade a while back)

It definitely does not legally invalidate your insurance, so you can't be charged for any offence there - but it may invalidate the fully comp aspect; ie they cannot wriggle out of paying third parties who they would have otherwise had to pay, but they might choose not to pay you out for your own claim (if you had one).

They can't crush your car for no MoT either.

I'm sure you're not 'allowed' any days at all, unless you're driving to or from a place where the MOT/repair is being carried out.
Correct, and the trip has to be to a pre-booked appointment, although strangely, it can be to an MoT testing station anywhere you like, even John-o-groats if you lived in Lands End.
