erol_h
Ive got some unwanted guests in my loft wasps. They keep squeezing themselves through the spotlights in the ceiling and i need to get rid of the buggers. Has anyone had to deal with these buggers before and also is it better to use the councils contracted pest services or find someone myself cheers. Purity14
Then do your worst. You arent allowed to touch bees as they are protected, there was a thread about this not so long ago. Personally I would just pay someone if you dont know how they are getting in.
erol_h
i dont fancy running around in the loft and falling through into the bedrooms
Havard
i dont fancy running around in the loft and falling through into the bedrooms Get a local pest controller in. Wasps don't fook about near their nest and you would get stung a couple of times even if you have the correct gear..... H.
Purity14
Then I would get someone in, I would have no preference other than price on who to choose when determining if it should be the council or a private firm.
Chris Wilson
Just go up there and spray the nest, they are wasps, not scorpions for God's sake. Why have men suddenly become terrified of a wasp's nest these days? A few stings are just a bit irritating unless you have some odd susceptibility to their venom. Unless they have built a huge nest, ive seen ones the size of dustbins before, spraying them wont help as they will sting you to death. Depending on the size of the nest depends on the action to be taken. Go up with a lamp and leave it somewhere, they will attack the light, if there is a large nest the light will dim as the swarm on it. Anapalaptic shock (sp?) is a hoot I believe. I heard about a guy who got stung on his tongue and his throat swelled up and he died of apshyxiation..... Seeing that I am allergic to everything I would rather someone kitted out deal with it. My missus put the loft light on and they were at her like a flash. She then fell of the ladder to much amusement of myself.... Ours was the size of pumpkin. H. Yeah see them all the time in lofts, they tend to play with the light first, unless you start flapping like a bird:d Only been forced to leave a loft once, the dustbin one....Never seen a nest like it once they where dead there where 4 rungs of dead wasps.
