Cente brake light LED repair

Recommended Posts

Just get in a really bad mood and slam the boot shut. I broke my brake light that way :).

And yeah, the bolts are a serious pain in the arse to do up.

You know I am really wondering if there are two versions of these. Couple of people have said that heat will seperate them, well on mine there is no way, it is made up of 2 peices of moulded ABS plastic, bonded together with abs cement, bit like airfix kits used to be (showing my age), but you know what I mean and no amount of heat would seperate this. And secondly, I have had my back light out now several times in the past few months for various reasons, and on each occasion it was a doddle. I used a deep socket and althoug it is a really long thread, it was no effort at all.

Just to update this thread:

I removed the rear light this morning without to much fuss. Using a sharp knife i then cut around the unit and by using two small screw drivers slowly cracked the back off the cluster. Only took about 3 minutes.

Now I'm heating up the joints trying to get the missing lights working. :)
