Toyota Dealer, Worksop - Poor, poor, poor!!!

You'd think with the current economic climate that car dealers would be almost stalking people in their homes to sell cars but it would appear that they give even less of a toss now than they did when they were making money hand over fist.

I was lucky (?) enough to win a free valet for the car which, as coincidence would have it, was at a Toyota dealership about 25-30 miles away from me. So I duly booked her in telling the guy that I would have to sit in the showroom whilst it was done as I had no way of going anywhere else. No probs says he.

Turned up at 9am as agreed this morning and walk into the showroom. He's not there. Day off! Work sheet says I'm in at 9 but nobody, and I mean nobody, has the faintest idea what's going on and why I'm there! Explain to manager and show him the voucher on his letterheaded paper. He trumps off with my keys not even bothering to ask what car they actually belong to!!

Now, there's also about 7 other folk sat in the service area all competing to see who can be the oldest and pass away first. This was one competition I was happy to lose. Upstairs in the open plan showroom are all the sales 'executives' quite happily ignoring everybody downstairs.

Now, to my mind, these goons have got a captive audience of 8 people, who all own Toyotas and obviously use the dealership for MoTs and services etc. So why oh why were they not downstairs offering looks round the cars, test drives etc etc?? I mean, for god's sake you knuckle draggers, selling cars at the moment is no fun but you have 8 'warm' leads sat downstairs drinking crap coffee and reading Autocar from 1986 just willing something to happen and you sit upstairs without a care in the world!! Nobs!

So 2 hours later (an hour later than I was told on the phone!) surly bloke returns and hands me my keys. No conversation, no chat about cars, nothing, not a bean!! Now I know my bit was free but FFS I own a Toyota - at least make an effort! Try and sell me a bloody keyring or a mug at least!! Make me feel like I should want to be loyal to the brand!

And in the end, I would have cleaned it far better!! And nuts to Toyota Worksop - you are goons.

And yet Toyota Lincoln always bend over backwards to help me.

Really? I've never paid them a visit. Sadly I had no option but to use the Worksop one as that's who had put up the valet as a 'prize'!! Might pop down to Lincoln Toyota then and see what's what! How goes the car anyhoo?
