supra_si
Guys has anyone had a problem with their rear window tailgate seal and rust coming through, is this an easy fix to get sorted by a body shop. Any idea of how much this would cost to get sorted cheers in advance want to get it sorted before the next winter sets in
evinX
easy to fix for a bodyshop, might need a new seal though costing around £50, and to refit the seal properly its a window out and back in job!
supra_si
ive heard its a window out and in, do they have to employ autoglass to come out to do that?
Nic
If the rust is bad they may need to cut out the section and weld in a new piece then respray. If you can find one, it may work out cheaper to replace with another 2nd hand tailgate in the same colour.
The Raven
Its somewhat of a supra issue, seen it on a number of cars. Not a big job really
Dnk
Until you get the window out you wont know how bad it really is but if you've caught it soon enough then its not a major drama. You'd be looking at around £300 for a proper job + removing and refitting the window + a new seal.
RobD
I've got a silver boot lid without rust around the seal BUT the paint is shagged and a slight dent at the top of the boot, has glass in to. It's in the for sale section if your interested

evinX
Ric you already got rust coming through? when you went down to bare metal during the work did you coat the bare metal areas in acid primer to seal the metal? normal primer dosent seal bare metal from rust. Damn man, i had a spare bootlid in the garage with glass, and cut it in half 2 days ago and smashed the glass, offered it for free a few times and it was rust free:(
Guest blueangel
it must have been where i couldnt get too when i painted also i didnt go bare metal all over in the uk most painters wouldntdue to the weather and the moisture in the air.
