I hate my job and i'm really far from proud! Its the most boring thing in the world! I make filters for blood and have to dress up like a teletubbie! I stand in the exact same spot for 7 hours a day in a clinicle enviroment, I hate it.

I much prefered your previous job, even if you didn't :D

I'm hating my job at the moment. I work for the 21st largest company in the world (vale, mining company) and I have two jobs, one I'm the IT service manager for the UK sites and I'm also business partner covering Europe, middle east and africa. I'm in that position because we outsourced our IT support teams and made people redundant so I'm doing my infrastructure job (service) and what was my boss's job, business partner. I get to travel across Europe, Canada, Brazil which can be good. I threw my toys out the pram last week and have requested to stick with service delivery as my workload is crazy, so I'm currently 'under review'.

I dislike my job at the moment :(, I’m a Joiner and have been at the same company for 5 years (since my apprenticeship) I use to love it, the people I worked with and the money was fantastic but it’s been going downhill the last few years and the moneys not so good now :( I’ve also just been laid off and haven’t a clue when I’ll be back at work, I’d love to do something else but haven’t a clue what :( there just doesn’t seem to be any decent jobs I can apply for :( im 24 now and the thought of studying to be something else with little pay puts me off a bit

I like my job. :) It's mostly laid back and with global warming having a downturn on the weather - it's perfect! Plus the money for my age is also good too.

I'm a software developer and I've been working at my job for over 4 years now. I've been in the same line of work for 7 years... that's right - since I was 13.

I'm now a shareholder, developer and freelancer. It can be stressful when I have deadlines to meet (like today). But other than that it is great because I'm good friends with my boss and we are aiming to build the company with a profit of x10 in the next couple of years. :) Looking forward to it and so will my single turbo. ;)

In 2005 i went out to Iraq to work for the US Government, working with high ranking military and government people.

At present i am awaiting a date to fly out to Afghan to work for the British embassy.

I work in IT supporting hospitals throughout UK and Ireland. It was sort of natural I would end up in IT as I was always messing about with computers when I was younger and generally interested in how stuff works.

It has it's upsides, the main one being my monitors face a wall and so I can spend most of the day on here.

I like the problem solving aspect of it and helping people but not so much the getting all the IT related "my friends computer is broken" outside of work and getting the "what did you just do? slow down your going to fast!, it never did that when I did it" speak :)

The pay is average but I am at that point where I wish I had chosen something completely different. I think that realisation came when I saw a friends facebook pictures of his day at work with the national trust making bridges over streams and putting up fances with amazing scenery all around and here I am sat in an office :(

Not so good when it rains though and gets dark early. No idea what I really want to do but I know it's not IT!

I left Britain about 5 years ago to come and live on the Greek island of Kos. Since then I have worked in a bar as the manager / waiter / cocktail maker / singer / games compère / quizmaster etc etc.

I honestly look forward to going to work every night as there is always new people to meet and as they are on holiday, they are usually very happy go lucky and out to have a good time.

In saying that, the job is not without its downside as working 7 nights a week for 6 months can be very daunting but a 2 week break before the winter kicks in (I am lucky to be working 5 nights a week in winter too) usually recharges my batteries. :)

Edit to add: Am I proud of the job? Well, there is nothing to be proud of really but I do get an amazing amount of satisfaction when I read write ups on review sites praising the bar and staff for the service and atmosphere.

I am your archetypal hated person. Yes, I'm a lettings agent for a premium brand in London! Every day is different in some way and it is quite enjoyable. It pays the bills well and has paid for my Aristo's transformation...

After living my childhood in a country full of hatred, racist violence, and a declining economy, I got offered the chance to follow my brother over to the UK at 19, and jumped at it (ironically, now 14 years later, I appear to be back in the same situation but that's another debate)...

I spent a couple of years on Jersey working bars and hotels, before following the promise of love to Newcastle. Sadly it was a short term promise but the geordie's intrigued me so I stayed. I did some more bar work and then grabbed a place in a BT call centre selling second lines and call minder to little old ladies who didn't need them (oh the shame)... I very quickly decided consumer retail sales was not a career aspiration and I lied, cheated and fraudulantly forced my way onto a system developement team, helping to bring new technology into the retail sector. We worked on and implimented first "Rise 2", which gave simple voice and web interaction to the bt.com website, before we replaced it with "Genesis", a much better interactive platform (I think that's what is still in place).

Not long after that I moved into a Network Specialist unit of BT Global Services and for the past 7 years have moved up through that unit as a network designer/specialist supporting BT's largest account base. Basically advising, designing and developing IP roadmaps for those accounts. I still enjoy my job but have really got as far as I can without going into direct people management (not interested) so I've now got to start looking around again. Happily, this company is that big and diverse, there is plenty of scope for movement.

  • 2 months later...

Left school at sixteen, really wanted to be an airline pilot! Started training...started looking for eventual jobs in the airline industry and there isn't anything. Saying there are 50 applicants for one position is an understatement. So I decided to save myself the 80K and get a job while I reconsider my options.

Started working for a franchise of a big bank - after a year and a half it was announced that out unit was to close. I got voted (by other employees) to be the redundancy rep which allowed me to negotiate redundancy terms and conditions etc. Did really well at that, everyone got waaaaaay more than was initially on the table and it gave me a taste of hardcore brutal busines in a commercial environment.

Was presented with a huge one off opportunity to undertake a project within flight simulation for a couple of months- so I formed a company, which I have now sold the assets and copyrights to a very very big company about two years later.

Thereafter, I was offered a job in an estate agents, mostly in business development but also learning the trade.

I'm now about to launch another new company with a business partner in estate agency...very weird this thread came up today of all days as we've just been looking at offices!

Not bad for four years!

Josh

PS, if anyone on here wants a managing agent - I'll do you a VERY nice introductory offer on any rental property ;)

I wouldn't say I hate my job but Im fed up with it.

I'm classed as a electrical and mechanical technician/Project foreman working on quite large contracts ranging for 500k upto £20million.

I go where the work is which is mainly away and live out of a suit case for 5days. Come home knackered and sleep while having her indoors wanting to do this and that before Monday comes and I away again.

I like the job for the first 10wks then I lose interest and just count the days until handover. I'm fed up of pulling my tripe out for someone else to get all the glitz and glamour and the nice bonus when it's them that cause more problems than anyone else.

Why is it that project managers can't program the sky tv series link but are left in charge of a £20million job.

I still want to be a racing car driver, astronought and footballer how the he'll did I get where I am.

It pays the mortgage and supra mods so it has it's upside.
