paddynewman
Is it possible to go from an auto to a manual? Im not say.. bored of the auto, id just like a bit more control over the gears? Or is it way too much hassle/impossible. Best off buying a standard manual?
Jamesy
Yep very possible. Do a search on here mate LOADS of people have done it and are in the process of doing it. Its not cheap though - dont expect much change out of £3,000. You can always use the auto in Manu mode if you want more control
Swampy442
3 large if you go 6 speed, considerably less for 5 speed
paddynewman
Ive tried the Manu mode, its pretty good, but wont rev 3rd to its limit, it drops to 4th at like 4500rpm?
David P
You don't say if it is an N/A or TT? If N/A you could manualise the A340E trans with a Suprastick V4.6. Info in my garage.
paddynewman
sorry its an 1994 NA.
David P
Why sorry? The Suprastick works a treat with the N/A A340E transmission. £250 for the ECU, a day tinkering with wires, and you have flappy paddle gear change. paddynewman
Just checked your garage out... WTF! You have some serious love for your Supra...it took me an afternoon to get the centre dash out.
David P
Thank's Click on the thumbnail of the SSV4.6 and you will find more info, or click on the Suprastick active link to go to the Latent Solutions site. There is other info about it, here and there under pics of connected projects.
Jamesy
sorry its an 1994 NA. In that case a 5 speed conversion will cost MUCH less than 3k

paddynewman
And a W58 5 speed swap even less Easy to do? Just looking to have a go at doing something to benefit both myself and the car.
The Raven
Easy to do? Just looking to have a go at doing something to benefit both myself and the car. Not easy, just cheaper. Expect to pay a grand fitted. If i was you id put up with it or sell it and buy a 5 speed n/a unless its an aero top?

I/Dad could probably fit it, where can I find manual boxes, and what type do they have to be?
The Raven
I/Dad could probably fit it, where can I find manual boxes, and what type do they have to be? You need more than a box mate. A w58 box would do, you need tunnels, pedals ect.
paddynewman
ha obviously.. but I totally forgot about a pedal My dad is the guy who does all the massive bits...i couldnt trust myself, it hurt to use a drill in the dash to fit a switch!
