David Reid
As per the title I have just returned to AEM the ECU I bought which has never worked as Chris was not prepared to give me my money back (but will consider the reimbursing the repair cost subject to cost). I just wonder how long should I expect it to be away? Post in each direction is 5 days If there is then 30 days repair time I might bite the bullet and order a Syvecs so I can get my car finished then sell this on when I get it back (if it can be repaired). Andy Blyth
It's the AEM FIC. The internal pressure sensor hasn't given a reading below 58kpa since new. I rang them up and told them about the problem, they gave me a few tests to try but without success so it's gone back for a warranty repair. I'm pretty happy with their service so far. David Reid
I also have a dud AEM, did you get a repair quote? Whats wrong with yours? Mine is basically no function, no fuel, no ignition, no coms, all it will do is turn the fuel pump on and output 5v to the sensors. I think its locked, AEM have said send it in for repair minimum $75 inspection fee. I had the board out while I was at Pro Tuner and it doesn't smell burnt and there isnt anything obvious wrong with any tracks. Not happy as I paid for a fully working ECU and now my car just sits awaiting ECU. I am sitting here mulling over spending an additional 1650 on Syvecs. I think I'll speak to Ryan tomorrow and see if he can help.
Swampy442
Mine doesnt communicate with the serial port, mate from Siemens had it apart but theres nothing obvious wrong. So 75 bucks plus freight to get it inspected? Hmmm
Ryan.G
Good old AEM V1 Reliability Seen: Injector drivers burn out Comms Issues. Sensor ground Issues. Power tracks burn out Just get a Syvecs like Greg is telling you. The engine trips, knock control, faster processing and better build quality as well as not needing to run wasted spark will be alot better for what you will be using it for!
