Harry Sachs
Hi guys I'm just in from 5-a-sides and my sisters laptop is going haywire. I can't do a single thing, I'm getting numerous popups stating some virus is doing this and some trojan is doing that. I tried installing AVGFree and Antimalwarebtyes. I can download them, but when I go to run them I get a pop-up and it closes the programme down. Can anyone help me out here? She got it from a cd that her history teacher gave her today
caseys
If you can download HijackThis and get a process list up You can then generally work out what's legit and what isn't by a process of elimination Otherwise without info will be hard to assist you http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ Nice teacher! Edit: haven't had a pc for ages so not dealt with av issues, Seems OTL is better as hijackthis sold out http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/2852-malware-and-spyware-cleaning-guide/ Get a process list, post it up and hopefully group experience will then assist you

creative
download malwarebytes and stick it on a usb. rename the exe file and boot into safe mode. stick in the usb stick and instal the renamed exe from there. It should work and let you run a scan then.

Abz
I recommend the Ultimate Boot CD http://www.ubcd4win.com Download, burn to disc, boot from it, and you've numerous tools for removing virus/spyware. This is a good tool, easier to boot from CD rather than picking up a USB (You need drivers etc).

2soops
I had exactly same thing with mine although different virus. Spoke to IT bloke at my girlfriends work and he showed me how to reset PC to a date when it was okay. I moved it back 2 days prior to virus and all okay now. Did install Norton360 afterwards for a good clean up, worked great but now very slow on start up. If you don't get any joy with the above let me know and i'l give you the instructions for the reset
