Gaz6002
going into this sort of project on a strict budget is not the way to go. This is a very good piece of advice.
marbleapple
the engine has already been mentioned but you could get the whole TT soarer on the road for under 2k and have a whole car worth of spares (minus the engine of course) to put on ebay to fund mods. plus if its already in a car you can really try before you buy Is it the same engine and just a straight swop? I.e. all the parts you need?
dwayne
its a 2.5 not 3.0 and the engine and gearbox mounts might be different but i'm pretty sure most of its a straight swap. i thought little num has done it before so maybe he could help in that area? EDIT: HadeS is doing it now http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=228587&highlight=1jz Edited October 6, 2010 by dwayne (see edit history)

edge
if you read supraforums sticky on na-t 75% of them wish they had gone TT http://www.supraforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=16 Its like going single on tt with the amount of money thats going to be spent. I would go TT 2jz non bpu for a few months, save up a bit more then go bpu. I can quite easily see a n/a - t conversion costing as much if not more as a tt engine and 6 speed conversion. dwayne
So no where near as powerful then? should be an upgrade on na and a lot of the 2jz parts will fit straight on. here's some figures for the soarer http://www.performance-car-guide.co.uk/lexus-soarer.html

HadeS
1jz FTW if the budget is tight. I would say I have spend about 2k-2.5k for 1jz conversion + bpu.

HadeS
I bought Soarer for 600quid . TBX it could be less than 2k in total.

j_jza80
Think I'm going to go the 1JZ route, I fancy a single turbo VVTI though
marbleapple
I bought Soarer for 600quid . TBX it could be less than 2k in total. My only thought though is that if you are spending the money to upgrade to a 3.0 TT, why scrimp and get a 2.5 TT? Presumably you would still be 'behind' the performance of a 3.0 TT? HadeS
1JZ still kick about 340-350bhp after bpu. Cheaper version for people who dont aim above 700bhp.

The Raven
good point To be honest i would class a single n.a as money lost also. 4k on to turbo it? It wont ever see that money again. Atleast with a smaller out lay you stand a chance. In a ideal world a 2jz engine would be dumped in mine, however 2.5k is a shed load of money to spend.
