The Raven
Well, I had a memeber of staff that has been selling cavitywall for my company.......Of the 10 jobs he sold 5 where no good. Today was the final straw, the house i went to had a massive damp issue to the point the owner had just put 8 vents into the outside wall trying to stop it. The problem was clearly that the damp course was crap. Now these guys know better than that, but like a mug i pay them half when the job is brought in and half when the job is done. So he made some money from it anyway, while i lost that, the fuel money and made my company look bad. Anyone know a decent, honest person looking for part time work in thanet! Robbing bum holes need not apply.

neo2810
I figured you'd get a few PM's... I'm mildly curious but not to the point where I'd disrepect your right to anonymoty on the board. Good luck finding someone honest.

Attero
If you were Iron Man, you wouldn't need people working for you. Your as good as it gets - even chuck norris is upset and intimidated by your abilities.

dazla
Was Going to have Cavity wall insulation a few months back. Until jemmas dad told me about the damp issues, With him being in the building business i took on his advise. You here to many bad things about damp these days. Is there a right or wrong way to do it Raven? Still wouldn't mind having it done if it cuts down the gas bills.

I do new builds for a number of clients, its cheaper than slabs.....All new houses have to have it in. Make sure the survey is done right, It wont cause any issues but if the house has a damp problem it will make it worse. Rules state that we are not to do anything that has damp already in it. Also i wouldnt do a house thats older than 1940. Look up CIGA if you worried its all covered for 25 years by the goverment. So even if there was an issue you are covered. We have had ours done recently and we will only know this winter if it makes much of a difference. We were told that because we have an extension, we could have possible problems with cold spots and subsequently damp if they didn't fill the interior wall properly as it used to be on the outside of the house and the only way they could get at it was to drill through my new decorating. Besides that issue, it's been fine and although the job was a wee bit messy it hasn't caused us any problems. Getting your roof done would be the first thing to consider. H. Was there a top bit of house to be done? with the old bit now part of the inside? You cant fill the top without doing the bottom. I was drilling someones kitchen a few weeks back.
